Blow through turbo on 18RG????

Hi All,

Was wondering if anyone out there has or knows if you can setup a blow through turbo on an 18RGEU that im useing twinn solex's on? I Know i would need to make a plenum to seal the carbys but does it effect the internals ie floats etc, if anyone has done it can you let me know your method or send a link, ive got a s5 RX7 turbo sitting around that i want to play with just for a little fun while my 3TGTE is in the build. Having withdrawals from the boost bug and has anyone used one of tho's electric 2psi turbo's you can get on ebay??

There is a fella on here with an HKS system. running 18 pound if I remember correctly. - can't find a link though.

As for the electric turbos, only good for mounting on the dash and blowing your hair back

Cheers Caam, yeh thats what i thought, but ya never know thought tho's elec ones mite be ok coz of the low psi they run but more psi is soooo much more fun

I heard with blow through set ups on holleys you have to get plastic floats because the foam ones crush under the pressure. Might not be the same with solex's though?

As has been said i think you could have an issue with the floats as they are probably the brass hollow ones & could possibly crush under the pressure ?? also you would need to run a fuel pressure regulator to increase the fuel pressure under boost,etc ..

I would look into putting the EFI system back on as it would be much better or maybe run a draw through SU type carby setup & just put the EFI plenum back on, i would think there is no real gain in running multible carby's like the Solexs on a turbo sytem ..

All good, problem solved, just got off the phone with Jason (YelloRolla) he's gonna put my 3TGTE together just after exmas/new years and where gonna try to aim for 200RWKW, that should solve my boost bug problems looking foward to having a mean 23 by mid next year. Time to start the body work i think.

HAHA All good ra_28 i wont be sending it til early next year and i dont expect him to rush it, i think he mentioned a turbo manifold he was building at the mo... must have been yours And Marcus, he realy sounds like a top bloke with heaps of info to share, contact him and jump in line, sounds like he's a busy man and realy knows his shit when it comes to big HP toyota motors, i thought i knew a thing or two, he made me feel like a Noob lol no pun intended Caam, will get some pics up as soon as i work out how to properly do it on this site, ive got a build thread on the Classic Celica Club SA site.... also mattlock on there you will need to join the site to see the members rides tho. Friken excited to finally have some progress on this 3tg ive been collecting parts for, been like 8 years now but soon will be worth the wait.

He sounds like someone that does it for the fun of building the engine, Not the money, Which is great! I'll get into contact with him and see if he'd help me out with some tricky things... Also, I may be getting forged 18RG pistons from my mate
