does anybody have the vacuum "pinouts" for a mid 70s toyota aircon system?

the MS65 wreck i bought for parts had the early cable only version (about 5 cables) ... where as my current aircon (74 ms65) has both vacuum lines and 2 cables.
my crown is currently not blowing air where it should compared to the controls ... so i think the vacuum lines were put on wrong when i replaced them
ie: changing from hot to cold changes flow from demister to vents etc.

I'm fitting a universal condensor from my old MA61 into the RA65. While trying to keep bracketry to a minimum, i've ended up with the upper (and larger) outlet half-facing some paneling. There's about 2 inches from the end of the thread to the panel (one side of the radiator support panels).

Given that this fitting has the larger thread/hole, can I get fittings that makes a really tight radius?

The hoses that came off the Supra are no good, they only have a 45 degree bend.It would need to be a 90.

(sorry for no explainitory pics, is raining up here so shed it shut).

@ Tocchi, sorry mate can't help you on that one, might have to do some expermenting, swap the tubes around and see what happens etc. There should be a diagram out there some where, but I wouldn't know where to point you.

@ thechuckster - Yes you can. You should be able to go to Enzed or your local Auto AC shop and they should be able to sort you out. They will make a custom line for you... I imagine you will need to thread the elbow on to the thread and then install it to get the clearance you need.

A standard #10 90 degree is just about the 2 1/4inch mark from oring mounting to back of the ferrule/crimp. Its possible it may just fit, they are cheap about $12ish so you could always buy and see.

matty12: if I rock up to a pirtek, ask for a #10 to ferrule 90degree fitting to suit automotive a/c, they should be able to supply?

Or will I get the "brain buffer overflow, too many words, please try again" look?

Or should I take the condenser with me?

I honestly don't know if pirtek sells them, ashdown cool drive or even repco/covs do them. Your after a 90 degree # 10 FOR (female o ring) beadlock fitting. I can post a pic tomorrow if you need. I'm also a summing that its a dash 10 your after as most universal cond are a #10 and a #8 fittings. Otherwise take cond in and ask for a fitting to suit.

    Does this work,

managed to sort it out -- now i know the system back to front pretty much ... i've had starting issues with the car so i havent been able to try slight alternate path in the vaccum tubes (just to confirm i have the correct "pinout")... but ive sorted that so ill test the vacuum tubes within a week or so... and then ill do up a nice diagram/tech article for other MS65 owners to be able to have check upon if they have issues with theirs

matt, not that i know of, the change from Heater to A/C is instant (with either hot or cold) ... very happy.
i still need to put a pressure switch in place (as you recommended) but since i havent driven it much lately i havent got around to doing it yet (Which i should i know )

Sorry its so far down the track that i did this, been so busy with tafe and been having troubles with the car.
But got i got it all fitted just before christmas, then it broke about 4 weeks later and took another 4 weeks to get fixed. What broke was the low pressure hose going into the compressor (what i paid someone else to do, ha)

Heres a pic of the compressor mounted.

Took a reading as best i could with mercury thermometer i had.

At the vents it was about 19 (this was at idle with the fan on medium)
In the car was about 21 - 22 (in the front seats)
Outside in the shade was about 29
Outside in the sun (where the car was) was above 41

Hey you can't rush perfection hey?

Installation looks good mate, very neat.

That a delta T of 20 degrees below ambient, thats pretty damn good!

One thing I would reccomend and will make your system a bit more efficent, is to wrap the metal joints of your cold line (Suction) with some insulating tape like this http://globosupply.com/index.php?mai...products_id=61.

Its not needed, but for the cost of $20 or so and the difference it makes on those mega hot days is worth every cent imho.
