I was wondering this too, the TA22 manual I have doesn't have any coolant flow diagrams for the 2TG.
Cheers, Jess
I have a 3tg engine in my race car and i just run some hose from the front of the head where the thermostat housing is to the rear which is the heater return line port. As i don't run a heater anymore.
I was wondering if i can just block of these ports and get ride of the hose? or does water need to run through the head for cooling or something???
Thanks

The key question here is, does any water flow through this section if the heater tap is turned off? I'm going through this exact thing with my 4AGE cooling system atm.
Ie, the inlet and outlet points for the heater hoses can be blocked off without a problem, as this would be the case if the heater was off. However you still need coolant flow through the full system, even when the thermostat is closed (unless you're running without a 'stat) I'm not familiar with that engine in particular, but you should be able to work out the flow paths and that will answer your question.
I think im just going to try it its ony a matter of getting to plugs and blocking the ports off see how the car goes temp wise if it gets too hot ill just put it back.
so probaly not a good idea to block it off then???
So all the hot coolant that would normally go to the heater will go to the WP to be put back into the engine, instead of going to the radiator to get cooled down?
Does the engine have a bypass? When the thermostat is closed, does the coolant have a place to circulate between the WP > block > head >WP...?
'I've scrapped better.' John stated when asked about the car by the guy with the silver tipped cowboy boots!
I did not explain it that well.
Hot coolant from rear of head into heater then the water outlet then through thermostat into top of radiator.
Cooled water from bottom of radiator drawn into water pump then into engine.
There is a pipe linking the water outlet to the water pump. While the thermostat is closed during warm up this diverts hot water from the water outlet back into the pump then engine to speed warm up.
I already have a line running from the thermostat to the back off the head as i dont run a heater its a race car. i wanted to see if i could get rid of it as it looks ugly and i wanted to neaten up my engine bay.
