What sort of quantity would it usually take to go to a laser/water cutter? If the price is right I'd get a few.

Axel, looks like WTFauto do them for $45 if you can't find anywhere cheaper.

If I had time I'd love to drop into a laser cutter and see what they'd charge for a batch of 20 or so.

I sent a DXF for 1UZ flanges to a local water cutter and got quoted $100 a pair for 10 sets without material They weren't a big fab operation though, just a small cutter.

Good thing was they would've cut one pair of flanges ($110) without the need for a bulk order.

That's not bad for one pair, but the cost/item should come down rapidly with more quantity.

    Also

    ...you said flange!....

    hehe...

    Axel,
I've had some work done on my car by WTF recently and very happy with the results. If you need someone local to co-ordinate anything for you, just let me know. I can drop my spare 1G-GZE exhaust manifold in to them if that helps.

Guys, any chance I could get a full-size photo of the exhaust ports? Think I've managed to track down a tracing, which means I can get plates cut by a profile cutter for relatively cheaply (or if you want to do a big order hand it directly over to a laser cutter).
The above opinion is just that - my opinion. It is not shared by any business that I am currently or have previously been involved with, nor any of their employee's.

give me 15 minutes and I'll have a pic uploaded.

Also, I contacted a local laser cutter today and he has quoted me for a minimum order of $100 he can laser cut at least two if not three flanges in 10mm mild steel.
And he's only 2 minutes away from place.

$70 each in 12mm mild steel. Only becomes a lot cheaper for 10+ through a laser cutter and you still have to get a drawing to them.

Mate thanks again for your efforts. Looks like the laser cutter down the road from me might be a bit cheaper if he can do at least 2 maybe 3 for a minimum order of $100 (plus I wouldn't be paying for postage)

Of course that quote was for 10mm not 12mm.

What I might do is I go and see them on my next day off a get some cut.
If I only get 2 for $100 I'll probably keep both incase I stuff one but if I get a spare I'll offer it up for someone.
