neil said he copped a bit of grief from the benalla boys over last years awards
thats a shame as it was supposed to be a fun event , not racing for sheep stations

also maybe we should revise the list on who's running , or start a new thread just for that purpose.
that way it can be updated , and we don't have to search back on previous pages to see whose running and whose not

i have to be a bit diplomatic here Simon
it is alleged ,that the benalla auto club was far from happy that the teams that they had entered
had not won the best shirt contest , or similar
and that they gave Neil a fair serve via several forums , it was stressed to me that it was not all the members, just a few of the , shall we say , less informed ,also that they only wanted a ceiling limit of 40 teams , then they learn t that there teams may not make it so the stretched it to 42 , teams
now we now why the emphasis, was getting our entry in early, as will be the same this year

Oh i see... I sort of knew that about the awards thing. I thought there must have been some other disgruntled people also.

    Ian,
I think the possibility of a third team should be scratched.

We have two teams filled as per Simons post earlier. Adam is happy to manage the rising sun team for the interim, but as he is a driver - it would be ideal to have someone who's dedicated role is team manager. We will also need people to time and be on the pit wall, volunteers from each team for the "6 hr duties", people to help drivers in the prep area and probably other things I can't think of at the moment.

Anyway, the point is - a team is not just 6 drivers. If something happens to a car or driver from a team prior to the event, we will need to replace them. (perhaps the extra drivers you may have could be our reserves)

If you think a third team can be organized - do it - but I'm only focusing my efforts on two teams, well actually - getting my car sorted, helping where possible the celica team, then rising sun team. If the last few years have taught us anything, it's that our resources are always streched, our planning is never good enough and lack of preparation increases undue stress. - meaning, I'm not keen at all in compromising time for a third team that could be spent on the other two aforementioned teams. Sorry if it sounds harsh. I think letting another self sufficient, prepared team run - instead of a "scraps" team who'd would be the best thing to do in this scenario...

    hi eddie
with the third team , all i was planning on doing with them was getting them all together , and they will organize the rest
they all have had good track experience , there cars are ready to go , and have been around long enough to get there strategy in place

Hey all, i'm entering a team into the WP 6 hour race this year.. One of the requirements is that each driver has competed in 3 prior motorsport events.. Is this the same for Winton?

    Cheers

Ian - Sounds like you like organising things. Sounds like undue stress to me.

Roscos - Shit! Forgot about you on the meeting night. My bad. You could still go in Rising Sun. Adam mentioned earlier he would be happy to step aside if required - I'm not sure if he'd still be keen to do this. Ray has not confirmed his position, so I think you could take spot and he can be a reserve. Also, being toymods - Toyotas should be the priority. Adam will no doubt be reading, but send him a pm(SilverRA23).

As quoted from the Sup Regs of last years event:

"All drivers must have competed in at least 3 (three) club sprint or higher level events prior to the Event or have a proved history of Motor Racing or Sprinting as a licensed driver."

I'm not sure what has happened in the past, but I don't think this rule should be bent (Just my humble opinion). Whether it has been check in the past or not, it is probably there for insurance reasons. If you were to crash and injure yourself or others, it may be a big issue...

the three run rules are there as they dont want people with no track experience to compete and be a hazard
having said that , we got crazy to run and a few others over the years , its a rule that's in place but may be relaxed as required , in other words its just a safe guard to deter idiots
