I would be interested to see how much narrower it is through the exhaust manifold faces, thats generally where the clearance problems come in (although LS still looks a little narrower). Sheepers did a quick measure up on my 4V and it seems to be wider than a 1UZ in that area, will do some proper measurements on the V series when I get a chance.

yea, 4V + *S40 or *S50 is gonna require major front suspension modification.
ill let you know when im finished.....

Here's some comparison shots I prepared earlierThe wrapped up engine is the LS.
Tried to get a 1UZ shot from the same perspective. In terms of head clearance to the strut towers, the LS has a heap more room. Exhaust manifolds sit much higher on the LS also giving plenty of room for some nice pipes.
Other interesting point is steering. Because the bottom part of the block is quite narrow, this engine would be friendly with a steering box setup if you didnt want to move to R&P.

Nope, its 4.82 and 4 for NA and forced respectively in NSW under the current rules (not NCOP). Not sure what the exact numbers are in NCOP is but i believe that NA goes up and FI comes down.
Those are some great shots and would really like to see what you have in regards to sump comparisons?
how much longer is the ls1? 80mm? being so much narrower, i realise its pushrod, but is it a 60 degree v like a ford windsor or is it a 90 like a 350chev/ ford clevo?
blake

The 302 windsor has a shorter deck height and hance is a lot more compact than a 351C.
I can't believe you're arguing this point and using the fact you built one as an argument when it is common knowledge that the engine is a 90 degree V. I mean Ford said it was 90 degrees but I guess they might have been wrong.
I think you have just confirmed a lot of long held theories on just how much it is that you "know".
I'll try and find some pictures to support your knowledge but I do not like the chances.
Man google books is kind of cool for this kind of thing check out http://books.google.com.my/books?id=...degree&f=false
No worries Blake, I thought you would like these pics
Dont hold me to it mate, but I would be quite confident in fitting a T56 behind it with some massaging. It would result in the engine still sitting quite forward. For good weight distribution, recessing the firewall and opening up the tunnel would be the way to go.
