Coming from the other side of the pond here, looking for a little insight on an issue that no one on this side of the world can find...
Backround: 97 SC300 5-speed undergoing a 1JZ conversion. The 1JZ was originally sourced from an auto Soarer. I assumed that everything would plug in (aside from the usual NSS bypass, tranny plugs, tach and temp gauge issues, etc.) until i got to the engine bay plugs...
in front of the fuse box there are two connectors where the engine harness and the body harness meet. One of my connectors does not match up though. The 1J harness has a 4 port connector, the body one is a 2 port connector. 2 of the wire colors match up (a black wire and a black wire w/ a red stripe) but i don't know what these other wires are for. Both are blue with a black stripe on them. What do are these two used for, and can i run with out them?
This is the plug on the engine side (EB2 as it's referred to in the manual) In the back round is what it's supposed to plug in to.
Thanks in advance
on my soarer i have a plug thats oval shaped that would plug directly into the remaining plug next to your fuse box there...
my guess was this could be the 3 wires for the alternator however i didnt really pay much attention as the loom was getting hacked up for its plugs and the engine was getting removed...
i only had 2 wires in mine, i'll double check tomorrow. One supplies power to the starter, the other to the ECU and other electronic bits.
it's those 2 blue wires/black stripes that concern me.
i can have a look at mine when i get home... wont be able to tell you much other than how many wires i have as the loom is off the motor and the car doesnt have a battery so no way of testing voltages...
