G'day guys, just put a 7mge + w58 into my girlfriends supra, everything is fine except it idles like at 1500, climbs to 2grand, then drops down to 1500 again, it also seems to run a little bit rough when driving, kind of lags before it makes power. We checked the iscv plug and are fairly sure it works, and other ideas? i also had a hunt for vacuum leaks.
ISCV is usually causes 'hunting for idle' although my 5m-ge ma61 was doing it last week, mine is a pre-84 model 5m, so its all analogue sh#t, no iscv for me!!
i'd say your on the right track with vac leaks, but as said, iscv it usually wat causes it! have you pulled codes yet??
1994 Aristo, boosted 2jz love!
New 1uz Affair, the Uzz31 Soarer
1990 JZA70 Aerotop also gone
1984 Ma61 Supra 5M-GE POWA!!! gone
And the winner of the big car race is......HOT ROD ZOIDBERG!
Have a quick search, this gets brought up every week.
i have had a bit of a search, can't find much useful, do you know what the problem is?
yeah i'v looked through that diagram, the pin numbers on the ecu don't match so we can't really firgure out the loom 100% do you think its the iscv?
Ahh, its a Cressida ecu is it ?
Have you verified that the ISCV is getting +12v ?
Does it go click-click-click when you turn the car off?
Does the IDL contact on the TPS work properly?
Is the throttle butterfly 100% closed when your foot is off the pedal?
yep cressy ecu,
yes it is now, we had to wire up the 12v to the iscv it wasn't actually getting it,
no i don't think it clicks
i'm not sure about the dil contact, how do i check that?
and i'll look into the butterfly thing fairly sure it does i had a bit of a look at that when i put the cable on.
thanks mate
oh also we couldn't get a code, can't find the engine warning light wire from the supra diagrams, do you know which one that is?
check engine light is the W pin
crack open the ECU the PCB has the pin letters etched into on of the sides
- ma61 + 2jz-gte + v160 + 3.5 torsen
ok cheers that means the engine light isn't on then and i'v got a wiring diagram, i'll have more of a look today should be cool now.
ok got it workin, my mate had a whole bunch of original toyota diagrams, that helped us find one extra ignition to the ecu that we needed, fixed the idle and power worries instantly, but now it won't idle till it's been driving for like 5 mins, even if it's hot.. lol any ideas about that? cold start injector timer thingy?
Cold start injector is purely for that, cold starts. Once it has started, or if its not cold, it doesn't do anything.
Go back to the idle circuits, also make sure the ecu is seeing the correct coolant temperature.
oh ok cool thanks saved us a wild goose chase there lol i'll do that, should i reset the iscv? also is there a way to adjust the idle? it could be higher even when it doesn't die
If the ecu is wired correctly (ie, using a EFI main relay that the ecu triggers), then the ISCV will be reset every time you turn the car off (thats the click click click you hear).
If the throttle plate is 100% closed, there is no vac leaks, and the TPS is in IDL mode, then the idle will not need adjusting. The ecu will adjust it to suit.
If you haven't pulled the ISCV off and cleaned it, do so. Pull it apart and make sure the bearings run smoothly.
ahh has not been cleaned that just may be the go thanks mate
i'm actually using the factory body loom efi relay, not triggered by the ecu, how will that be any different?
