The 3S flywheel has 8 bolt holes and is not interchangeable with the 1GGTE. There is a small difference between some of the clutches that the 1G's were available with.

Did you try searching both here and on the old forums?

I know that the R353 (this is an Exedy part number) will fit some fllywheels (i have posted this information here and on the old forums before now). I cannot remember the part number for the other clutch that fits the different 1G flywheel. I do remember that it was about 6mm bigger in diameter, had different PCD for the mounting holes and dowels and was definitely NOT the same as the 2JZGE item. I think that it corresponded with a 4Y part.

I have a flywheel to suit 1GGTE! pm me if you're interested.

And then subsequently the clutch sizes are different too.

I used a 18R flywheel! Easy to find and also about 1kg or more lighter!

I also used a 1JZ pressure plate (all that has to be done is to make a few holes bigger for the locating studs) , and a heavy duty hilux clutch plate. Worked a treat. And very easy on the left foot.

best bet is to find the flywheel you want too use, i would be going for the biggest bolt on item you can get becuase that in turn = bigger clutch...then take it down too a local clutch specialist, let them know what kind of power/tourque you are expecting and they can match something up in regards to pressure plate force and what kind of clutch plate you want...i.e. puck clutch? button clutch? full face clutch?

    hope this helps

id be keen to know how you did this, as the 1JZGTE pressure plates are pull type right? too suit an R154...and W5x boxes are push type...

unless you were using a 1JZGE pressure plate? but they would be uber rare

All i know is the guy at Canberra toyota told me he had this 1J pressure plate in his garage that he told me should work on it. I got it off him cheap, drilled out the holes, and it all went together brilliantly. Could well have been a 1JZ-GE

2JZ-GE are 240mm (same as 7mge), so I go with that being the best explanation (for a 240mm flywheel)!

so the 7mge clutch is the the same size as the 1ggte. Does it have the same bolt pattern? I really dont want the 225mm item, the bigger the better and its like 15% less area than the 240mm one.

Ok i might call around some toyota wrckers etc. Could you guys list which flywheels are compatible.

    So far i have 1ggte 225mm and 240mm. 18rg and ......
