Are you looking a single, dual or multi stage EBC?

ProfecB is a good one, nice and easy to setup, dual stage, holds boost, not too expensive.

Apexi AVCR... JOY!!! Only got to borrow it though

I dont think there should be a minimum price on EBC's.
I dont mean go out and buy the most expensive but get a good one thats for sure.
I plan to use a blitz SBC ID3 which iv heard good things about.
Iv also heard the Turbosmart eboost one are very good but once again expensive.

    I was leaning towards either a Turbosmart E-Boost OR a Apexi AVC-R

Im not phased about cost, i believe you get what you pay for

Devils- So using the AVC-R was good?

I ended up going for the Blitz dual SBC spec R. it's a good quality dual solenoid unit, with great reviews on its functions. I also liked the fact that it is anti-ricer, which is what gave it the nod over the ID3 (which does basically the same things but with a colour screen etc)

I run an E-Boost one and have no problems with it.

Although a little food for thought would be for me to point out that alot of serious (read 8,9 second) drag cars run simple boost tees. In the end you can't get any better boost control than a wastegate spring as close as possible to what you want to run. A boost tee or controller is then generally fine for a minor adjustment upwards (ie a few psi). At the moment i'm only on 16psi but when i step up to 22psi i will be getting a 20psi spring.

As for the whole "hi/low switch" idea and people wanting to run low boost around town etc... i just don't get it. If you think that on "high" boost your car is too powerful for daily duties then why not just not gas it everywhere? We've ALL got a boost controller- it's called our right foot hehe

As i said, i spent the cash and bought an E-Boost, but that was before i knew any 'better'. For my application a tee controller would have been about right with the correct wastegate spring.

PS having said that, the E-Boost 2 does offer some great functions like boost per gear (great for racing on street tyres) and a shift light. I just don't think people place a little too much importance on the actual process of electronic boost control sometimes.

hi/low is good for when it rains, especially in an auto with a shift kit, before you know it, your overtaking a guy sideways cause your foot went down too far to get the car going, it kicked down, kicked out, and hit full boost

For full boost (high or low) you are more or less going to need full throttle though, i can't believe you floor it in the rain hehe! Even in my daily which has all of 84kw at the fly i don't gas it in the wet just in case.. i've involuntarily visited the bike lane too many times, my luck can't last forever!

    Anyway, back on topic...

Haltech also has an electronic boost control solenoid that can run with many of it's aftermarket ECUs, i've always thought that was a pretty good option.

I've had one for some time now and haven't had any issues with it, it was quite simple to hook up (obviously not as easy as a boost tee) and is very easy to use.

why should anyone take the time to "prove" anything to you? opinions have been given, im certain a search would turn up more opinions than you can poke a stick at

as with a lot of stuff there is no right and wrong answer....it mostly comes down to personal preference....so YOU decide something
