Hey guys
Im doing a conversion of 3sgte to ae86 and thought while ive gotta get or make a turbo manifold up, may as well make it for a different turbo.
Does anyone know the max limits of the ct26? Max boost and power output?
What would be a reasonably priced upgrade, i know a gt30 would be perfect but dont wanna have to spend that much if possible.
Cheers
Max boost on the stock CT26 seems to be 15-16psi. They can go higher, but they don't hold higher boost very well so it's like pissing into the wind really. The Supra CT26's are meant to be slightly better, and the aus spec GT4 ones are better than JDM ones as they are steel wheeled.
You could get it highflowed and get a T04 wheel put in, that's what I'm running right now and it pulls a fair bit harder, a little laggier though. Better still is the CT20b, if you can find one for a reasonable price.
Reasonably priced upgrade, I'd look at the Greddy TD06 kit. When I can find enough money, I'll be getting either that, or the ATS TD06 kit. www.atsracing.net

CT26 is good for ~300hp maxed out, hi-flows don't seem to make too much more.
basically just about anything can go, set a power goal and pick your turbo for that! anything over 400hp i would probably pick the GT3076R...from the compressor maps and what not seems like it would support ~500hp with fairly good spool!
of course you don't have to pick Garret, i have heard good things about KKR and they are about 1/2 the price![]()
be careful looking at 'bolt on' kits that include the dump and so forth as they may not work with the 3S in a N/S configuration. Also if you don't keep the slant on the engine that may affect how the turbo is located with redats to your strut tower.
300hp if you're uber lucky (it has been done) See what you can get with the stock turbo, because it will run fine on the stock computer. fidle around with a big turbo, and you'll need eCU mods as well.

I've got a microtech ecu, tuned maps for up to 28psi, bigger injectors (540cc), and a fair few more internal mods going on also. The computer is out of Jon's ae86, raceflo.com.au, as alot of the other parts, he was running 325rwkw, but i need a few more internal mods to run 28psi i think!!!!
I'd like 250kw @ the wheels, so about 500hp. Obviously running a big fmic, nice big exhaust, but like i said the standard turbo is some what restricting me i feel.
GT30R76 (i think) is what Jon was running on his, i'd like to run it too but fear it may be too laggy!?! thought maybe GT28? anyone have either of these??
Cheers!
GT2876R will flow up to ~48lbmin good for about 310crank KW absolute tops
GT3071r will flow the same <--this with the 0.63 exhaust housing or the twin entry 0.78 exhaust housing would be my pic. Both are external gate but it is avaliable with an internal wastgate turbine housing. (better than average chance my CA18DET will nd up with one of these at some stage, after the CT20b experiment has been tried.)
GT3076R will flow 54lbs/min

not exactly, the AFM does just fine compensating for a larger turbo...obviously can't go too nuts, and have to make sure u don't over-stretch the fuel system. changing to a GT2871RS was the best thing i have done, still on completely stock management as well!Originally Posted by jfallen
Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I thought it would be better than starting a new one...
Are the CT26 and CT20B the same on the dump side?
Similar. The CT20B has an extra stud but you can get away without using it. Just be careful with the DP gasket as they can foul the wastegate flap using the 20B on the 26 and vice versa.

The reason I ask is I just bought a dump pipe that was designed for a CT26 and the dump pipe is too small for my CT20B...
Not only do the bolt holes not line up, but the actual size of the flange is too small also...
Could have been a DP for the Gen I CT26 ie. off a ST165...either that or they screwed you?

It was off a 3T-GTE with a CT26... Maybe the CT26 that was being used has a different exhaust side housing?
That's what i just saidThe early CT26 ie ST165 and the Supra CT26 have a different exhaust flange and crap single flap wastegate

Sweet, that would explain all...
Thanks!
No probs. Ebay may be you friend as cheap DPs there you can cut and shut to suit RWD
