    Default F series and Corona.

    Hey Hey,

I did a quick search and didn't find what i am after.

So at my local wreckers they have Cressida - MX73 with a F-292: 7.5 inch diff.
Will the the housing bolt up or be compatible with a RT142 corona ?
I think they are the same as MA61 but i am not 100% on that.

Mine has a live axle, Wouldn't it be just a bolt in operation with the right parts ?

From what I have worked out there are 2 different rt142 coronas. The jap spec rt142 that has F-series IRS diff and a blue/grey interior in either an Avante or CSi model. Then there is the Aussie spec rt142 that has live axle borg warner diff and brown interior. Both Aussie and Jap rt142's came out in the Avante model too. The floor pans are different as well so you cant just bolt in an IRS rear end to a live axle rear.

Ok just a good look while the car is off the ground and not much support around the bolt holes so i doubt they are for a diff housing.

As already indicated you cannot put IRS in a non-IRS Corona, not without stupid amounts of effort anyway. No big deal though, with the price of Coronas these days you can pick up a complete RT142 with IRS for next to nothing!

Do the IRS RT142's have the same flange for the diff/tail shaft as the borg warner's or would i need to get another custom shaft made to fit my engine to a IRS model ?

different length tailshafts used in the IRS compared to live setup. Just go the the wreckers and get the bits you need.
