What are you shimming? preload on the pinion, lapping the crownwheel/pinion, or setting the side/sun gears?
Size will depend on necessary clearances, shims should come in a varienty of thicknesses.
I'm re-shimming a MA61 LSD diff on the weekend does anyone know the diamentions of the shimms you need to re-shim it
Any help would be great

well its free wheeling going left and perfect going right
First time we have done this so help would be great
maybe new clutch packs are required?
take it to a shop dude, i tried to do mine and u need to be so precise..get them to do the backlash anyway. Mine was loose and had loads of play (290,000km lsd) and it cost me $150 to set up a complete (new bearings not incl) etc. And now its tight as a nun's C**T.
plus, did you consider where you are going to get such a shim to make urs perfect?
I am taking it to a shop on the weekend, just happens to be a friends, its a preemptive shim buy so we don't get stuck and have to drive around buying crap on the weekend, i'ceasked toyota what shims i need and there no help at all. If worst comes to worst we will put it out and i'll have to drive around to a diff mob and grab some shims, making it a whole lot harder
If you're not sure what you re doing I'd suggest getting it done but see if you can watch and learn. Setting pinion heights can be very tedious when you know what you are doing. If you don't it can result in buying another set of bearings when you f*&k them removing/installing them as often as you will.
Shims will never be exact that's why there' s a tollerance range. I've even cut my own from sheet when necessary.
All possible adjustments effect each other, pinion height varies lap (meshing area) of the crownwheel and pinion, raising or lowering will need appropriate adjustment of the centre to alter preload. Do you have a spring balance? This is a must to set preload as well as lapping paste for pinion height/lap.
