how to use 1jz hydro. water pump for power steering

That's a great idea 1jzracing I've retained my power steer pump though as it drives the hydraulic brake master cylinder also But I'd never thought about using the hydraulic pump to drive the power steer

Whats the feasibility of the hydro pump being used to pump coolant?

Methinks lubrication would be your problem there. Why would you want to do this though?

There is probably some additive you can use with the coolant so it doesn't kill the pump... I seem to recall something about this during a discussion about using a fuel pump for water injection, can't remember if it was here or PF though?

Also I wonder if the hydro pump might move the coolant too fast?

Hmm, ta, I'll look into it.

Pump could move it too fast, but I can always control the PWM valve.

yeah I wouldn't have a clue, it worked perfectly for the 10 min test drive.

As I wound up the speed controller I could here the fluid noise begin like normal power steering does as the air etc gets out of it.

I'm sure i'll hear about it if anything explodes in the future

I just don't see any cars with 1J, 2J or 1U engines in your sig.

when i saw the owner it was still working a few months after with no problems and I havn't heard anything from the guy so i presume its all ok
probably the easier option if you prefer wires
