    Default F-Series LSD

Ok guys i'm looking at getting a 2 way LSD centre for the supra, now I can source a Tomei or Cusco centre through www.tuneagent.com.au for a SXE10/GXE10 Altezza for around $1,200 delivered.

What I need to know is whether ppl are 100% certain it will fit. Beau Yates runs the Tomei version in his sprinter in a live rear axle f-series diff. I know there have been arguments before as to whether the TRD mech centre from the Altezza fitted, so I want a definitive answer before I throw down a good amount of cash on something that may or may not be useful to me.

Thanks in advance for any help

I raise the question of why you don't want a Truetrac, is it because you want something different?

I don't want a torsen lsd simple as that. And the mech centre is not that much more expensive anyway.

that sounds dear, can't you get a cheaper one than that? i need to get one as well for my f diff, and the detroit truetrac looks good, and there's another one but i forgot the name, it works by driving a pin through the middle which pushes the plates and clutch discs together. the more torque it gets the harder it locks, looks like a good setup. i'll see if i can find the link again if you haven't seen it already.

For a 2 way centre this is actually a very reasonable price, I'd be looking at not too much less to have a stock diff rebuilt and shimmed anyway, or to get a true trac which I don't want.

Last I heard true tracs were around 900 bucks a pop and the TRD ones work out about $1,400+, 2 ways aren't cheap.

YLD-16L thank you very much thats what I wanted to hear. Have to spread the love some more so I can't give you rep atm.

where did you get the truetrac price from? i'm about to ring LDS (in nsw) to see how much one is delivered to tassie.

i looked on the detroit website and truetracs were ~$350us plus post, so yeah it'd come close to 900 i spose, but i'll see anyway.

My Truetrac was $650. Just curious (and I mean nothing by this), what is your reasoning for not wanting a Torsen?

No probs, his is a live axle F-series diff in his car, I don't know if that makes any difference to what you are trying to find out though??

Intended use of the car being trackdays, and possibly hill climbs, imperfect surfaces or accidentally hitting ripple strips and getting the car on lifting a rear wheel is not good for the torsen diff.

At times I will be doing drift days and torsens are not too fond of drifting, every serious Nissan owner rips their torsen out in favour of a mech 2 way.

Rebuild stocky will set you back about $500.

I dunno where you got your quotes being up near $900 for a rebuild.

Dont forget to budget another $500 for bearings and fitting.

I have a mate that can fit it just got to weight for him to recover from his hip replacement , as for bearings, how much would I be looking at for them on they're own.

Oh, and FWIW I intend to do track days, hillclimbs, motorkhana's, drift days, whatever in the Soarer and I have no worries about the truetrak breaking.

    Depends what bearings you need.

Stock ones were about $80 a side.
Our truetrak ones were about $60 a side.
The live-axle ones were about $30 a side.

EDIT: And new output shaft seals are $60/pr.

On top of this is a new pinion bearing, and a new input shaft seal if you want to go that far.
