No, that was the quote my diff rebuilder gave me when he thought I was putting in a stock LSD.
You should know by now to never get a bearing or a seal from Toyota.
In terms of the stock ones is that being sourced from a Toyota dealer etc.Originally Posted by CrUZida

True lol, thanks for the info. Once my sheds built in the next two weeks I can pick my spare diff up off ed, send it away to get the seals, bearings etc done. Then get the 2 way, then once my mates better I'll get him to help me do the swap.Originally Posted by CrUZida
With any luck by the time this is up norbie may have the camber bolts and tabs done and we can fit the spare crossmember with the modded tabs on![]()

I just rebuild a diff from scratch..
I already had the torsen centre, but that was $650.
Brand new F series R&P - $350
Carrier & pinion bearings & seals - $150
I've done plenty of track days and *cough cough* mountain runs with the torsen and its never had a problem. I have heard they don't like it if a wheel lifts off the ground but if thats happened to me then i've never noticed.
Cheers

Nope, depends what the other diff is ie hopefully another manual MA61 one wheres ed I hope he knows, I'm happy with the 3.9 I have now, I wouldn't go shorter ie 4.1. Taller might be useful for drags ie being able to hold 3rd longer but the amount of times I'm going to be drag racing its not worth it. I find the 3.9 gives it a good spread, because the torque is so flat gearing really isn't an issue.Originally Posted by CrUZida

This was 5 years ago that I paid $500.
But still, prices wouldn't have gone up that much.
Parts may have though.

I got my Turetrac for $700 then got it fitted so in all it cost me about $1k. I still dont understand the talk about 2 ways and torsions acting differently for every day use. Ive drifted, dragd, and driven my rust bucket on the street and the car just feels like an every day dar. The diff locks when it should and doesnt feel overly tight ie. doesnt chirp when doing tight turns in a car park. It doesnt feel unprdictable at all. I think you should be realistic in your decision. Fair enough the blokes with the big bucks with the latest 200sx or skyline with every latest part under the sun and every modification you could think of and trying to really push their car to the limits so they change the diff to gain different characteristics to the car. But I think you are better off paying more attention to suspension setup like new bushes! before you get overly concerned about what lsd to get. My 2c anyway.

Thought of going for a mechanical locker ? Im running lokka lock right in my 61with 3.57 gearing. Lots of fun but are noisey......somethin to get used to though, especially as i wanted traction. They are very tough and are cheap too, i had mine fitted for $600.
Its just me I like everything to be perfect and as good as it possibly can, as for bushes I have a full set sitting about 1m behind meOriginally Posted by Pube

If i'm spending close to 4 grand on suspension, brakes and wheels, spending an extra $300 on a diff is a piss in the sea.![]()

I'm going to examine my three lsds for how good their clutch friction plates are... if none are good, i might be forced to go trutrac..... i just dont like the thought of it acting like a single spinner when one wheel breaks.
I've had my TrueTrac for close to 3 years, and in that time I've never had it act like a single-spinner. That will only happen if you lift a wheel clear off the ground, and let's be honest, if that happens you've already fucked up and you're probably off the power anyway. I've done drag racing, circuit racing, lots of "spirited" drives through the mountains, and of course lots of street driving, and I haven't been able to fault the TrueTrac yet.
It's interesting to note that the only people who have bad things to say about torsens don't actually own one. Those that do love them.

Odd in what way? Mine just gives me lots of traction, all the time. *shrugs*
