knock sensor probs... AGAIN!

ok when I was rebulding my Levin I broke the GZE knock sensor so i installed a 20V BT one instead which obviously didnt work.. after searchin all over the county i couldnt find a GZE one. My mate on the other hand took the liberty of finding one and buying it from Toyospares in VIC..

I received it yesterday and it looked identical to the 20v apart from some numbers on the size and the fact someone had written 4AZE on each side. now when i looked at my old GZE one it looks different, the thread stem is shorter and the top looks different. now i just asumed they have either given me the wrong one or there is like different looking gze sensors around



the one I received looks nothing like my old gze one apart from dif numbers around the side so perhaps its a 20V ST one which is why.

have i got the wrong one? too add to this I also have the ERROR 52 on the diagnostics

A search of the old forums revealed that 4agze error code;

KNOCK SENSOR SIGNAL
--OPEN OR SHORT IN KNOCK SENSOR SIGNAL
--KNOCK SENSOR/CIRCUIT to ECU

So you're on the right track there. Maybe troll through some wreckers with sensor in hand, see if you can find a match?

It's possible the gze one you've got now is an ae92 gze sensor, might explain the difference.

Edit: Yeah, meant import wreckers looking for the right one, not from something else.

Have you checked to make sure the wire from the ecu to the knock sensor has not been damaged?

the knock sensors ARE different.... they each product different signals unto which match the ECU for the engine they are made for.
