    Default 4age or 4agze into ke55 rolla

    hey guys im seeking any advice as to what motor would be better to do this conversion with. will be used as a street/strip/fun drift car.
    Any advice as to what has to be done to get it in and running?
    what gearbox would be best to used as ive heard the sprinter box will do?
    any advice would be appreciated

    Depends if you want more top end, or bottom end torque.
    I personally would go with the gze, of course its got more power down low, and even up top it goes like the clappers, but itcomes at a price. Over heating issues to start, harder to fit and maintain.

    I have a ke20 with gze, its great fun. Cost me a fortune to get it to where it is today and its still not on the road. My mate has a ae86 with red top 100kw small port. Goes great around corners being a ae86 and all but in terms of power, i think thats got enough to easily drift.

    Or just do both. Get a 100kw or 86kw 4age and then "z" it if you think you dont have enough power.

    If you.ve got money to burn yeah why not? its not that simple as just slappin a supercharger on!
    Engine internals, intake manifold, mounting brakets, intercooler + piping, injectors, ECU, strong enough gearbox, strong enough diff.
    Its a fair whack of cash and far from a smart way to do it!
    your better of going straight to forced induction if you feel your going to end up there eventually!

    thanks beige i will prob go straight for the 'ze' cause i will want that little bit of extra power staight up

    have you ever done or helped out with a conversion like this before???

    My beige Deli Van you see in my avatar has a 4AGE 16v bigport in her so yes
    Im just a little lost but ill be fine!

    what did you have to change-modify to get that in there and do u think that there would be much change between yours and a ke55

    55's got a steering box 70's got rack, check out FAQ's and mod's guide in tech section There's some conversion write up's from The witzl and phrostbyte(R.I.P) most of the main mods are listed in them!

    Have a look see what you can find, most of your questions should be answered amongst these threads but when ive got more time i can get more specific if you dont find what your after, also there is a KE dedicated thread in genral car talk, plenty of KE owners on there who are more than willing and happy to help a fellow KE crazy cat!

    Im doing this and so far its cost me prob around 6000. With mostly second hand parts and a standard 100kw smallport turboed. Should need much more to be spent on it.

    Thats with all the work done myself and Trade prices for things like clutches, pumps etc.
    It can easily turn into a money burner even before you start going through diffs, boxes.
