    Default 20v wont run

ok car should be running now (car in question is ke70 with 20v conversion) but i have an interesting (IMO) problem. Engine has spark, injectors are pulsing but still no start. the problem is funny because the engine fires when the fuel pump (external vl type) is disconnected from power and wont even fire when pump is reconnected. I have the fuel pump hard wired at the moment for the sake of testing and will hook it up through a relay once the problem is sorted so there should be no problems with pump not receiving power etc. I just dont understand why the car fires when pump isnt running? anyone have any ideas?

so the engine wont crank when the pump is connected? or it wont spark when the pump is connected?

so it wants to start with the pump disconnected. ie coughs and splutters, but cant. and with the pump conected there is no sign of life?

the fuel lines are on teh right way. the feed isnt on the return side is it?

Too much fuel pressure maybee ???
when pump running is flooding, when no pump on will fire/kick on fule still about in inlet and chambers?
    Have you checked fuel pressure?

slide86 - thats exactly whats happening, i dont see how the lines could be on the wrong way, but i will check, as it seems pretty plausible.

i dont understand how there could be too much pressure as lots of other people get by with vl fuel pump and standard fuel lines.

I also disconnected the fuel pressure reg lines (return) and switched on the fuel pump and fuel came out which leads me to think maybe fuel is going in the wrong way - does this sound about right?

fuel needs to go in the opposite end of the fuel rail that the reg is on. at idle the reg should be OPEN, allowing fuel to run back to the tank. when you bring the revs up, the reg will close, raising the fuel pressure.

sounds like maybe it is flooding the engine, and when its off its trying to start from the fuel that in the rail.

the VL pump should be fine.. im running one with no worries. can you get it to run with some aerostart in the intake?

well turns out there is no problems with the fueling which is a relief, also no problems with spark! so that leaves timing! always check your timing belt is in the right position, just because your replacing a timing belt and you havent moved any of the gears, its a good idea to check it! The timing belt on my car was out by 2 teeth on the exhaust and thats what was causing all the drama! car is all sweet now!
