    Default 1jz/2jz r154/w58 flywheel questions

    Hey all,

I need to determine if the 1jz-gte/r154 flywheel typically found on jza70s is compatible for use on a 2jz-ge and mating it up with a w58... assuming use of n/a jza80 bellhousing.

    Cheers,
    James

The flywheel will fit on your engine, but you will then be forced to use an R154 pull-style clutch which is incompatible with the W58. AFAIK a normal W58 clutch won't fit on an R154 flywheel.

I suppose it would be possible to get a custom clutch made up, but methinks it would be a whole lot easier to get a W58 flywheel to go with your W58.

Well I've picked 300hp at the flywheel simply because its 100hp per liter and I know that it should be achievable. But basicaly I want a quick na car for weekend street use and car club events like track days and hillclimbs.

    My provisional mods list is

Tuned length extractors (Iam designing now)
    ITB (Iam designing now)
Minor head porting and port matching (will do myself)
Cams (I'll leave this one to the experts)
Megasquirt II ECU (I'll tune it myself)
Possibly up the compression, depending on the future of Tassies lack of decent petrol.

Im looking at a fairly long time frame for all this to happen though as my budget probably wont extend much past $800 every few months.

    I currently have the car (5me + w58)
2jzge (96 Supra, mid sump) and has yet to arrive .....

So to get it in the car I still need the sump, bellhousing + flywheel, engine mounts which should eat up the next $800 installment and then some

The standard engine should be up and running by the end of the year but the other stuff wont be until at least the end of next year.

Whoa! That's scarily identical to what i'm doing. I want 100hp/L, and minus the ITB's, i've got pretty much everything u have listed in my hypothetical 'plans book'.

Regarding the extractors, are you going 6-2-1? I've not started research on the lengths of primaries/secondaries, but the rough idea I have is something like what my old 5m-ge had.
