    Default 18R-G Vacuum thing

    gday all,
    can any one identify this vacuum thing?
    its on an 18rg,apperntly it used to be set up with EFI but has been converted to carbies.

    Hi,

    It looks like the EGR (Exhaust Recirculating Valve) that was on the carbie-engined 18R-GU. It's shape looks like the type that was used on 18R-GU engines built from Oct75 to July77.

    In your pic it looks like the part that goes to the exhaust is blocked.

    is that orange looking pipe rubber or steel?

    That is a good pic.
    I would like to know exactly where that coolant line underneath runs too, and where the other small vaccum line goes to. The first one picks up air from the closest trumpet.

    Hi,

    That orange pipe thingo, with the bolt in it to block it off, should go around behind the engine and then into the exhaust manifold.

    The pipe in the bottom of the unit runs into the inlet manifold. The other pipes go to the rear (and I think) the front or 2nd trumpet.

    Better still, gimme a few mins to see if I can put an diagram up here for you.

    my old 18RGU didnt have the valve as pictured but had the fittings to go into the exhaust ports.

    i just blanked them off

    strange how only 3 ports had it though

    any ideas?

    probly not correct but here goes,

    i think they are for emmissions control i know i have 3/4 and they are capped off
