Default vented magna discs on a ke30

I've read somewhere that magna discs are interchangable with ke30 ones without to much fiddling around at all.

If anyone has done this please let me know

    cheers

i think there might be a bit of fiddling around involved....

    what model magna?
fitting the disc to the front or rear of the hub?
    what calliper to use?

you may have to have the disc redrilled to suit the hub......

ur apparently meant to use commodore calipers, which isnt a problem because i already have a braket made for the calipers to bolt onto, im planning on getting commoder discs machined to fit however that cost an arm and a leg. also from what ive been told it that they should fit straight on however not sure what model or anything of that nature

im probably going to do the hilux/pug/corona setup with coilovers for my ke30.
Im going to get adjustable strut tops aswell for camber.

I can do an extra pair for you but its not cheap. I got quoted 2000 for the coilovers-welded in and strut shortned, aswell as top quality short stroke shocks-Koni, aswell as adjustable strut tops. Then i will have to put the brakes together prob another 600.

    wow.. 2K??
if you set it up yourself and just get someone to do the welding, surely it would be a heck of a lot cheaper?

the magna disc has been mentioned before on here or old forums.... info is there for the finding

Agreed, that sounds pretty pricey. We just did the Hilux/Pug setup for a KE38 wagon and it cost the following:

Struts and hubs $50 at an all you can carry for $50 wreckers sale (I carried a lot more than that too )

    Calipers $120 from the wreckers

    Rotors $220

Coilover kit brand new second hand from this forum $180

Welding of coilover sleeve strut ~$1

    KYB shock absorbers $160

Spacers for bottom of strut for the shorter shock $15

    Grand total = ~$746

The strut wasn't shortened as is was already 6mm shorter than the strut we removed from the KE38 and it may not need adjustable strut tops as some rough eyeballing looked as though the new struts will have more neg camber than the original items When my mate gets back from OS this setup will be bolted into his car. If it does need adjustable strut tops then it will bring the grand total up to about $1000.

NB. We had spare springs in the garage so they were not included in the pricing above.

Re: the Magna disc, it'll be from one of the early Magnas and I have never seen anyone who has actually done this conversion so I can't comment.

The DBA catalogue is your friend when trying to determine what will fit:

I will be rebuilding my calipers this weekend for the next brake conversion on my KE25 (ST185 GT4 GrpA calipers with 283x25mm rotors)

The rotors from the TN Magna and I think others close to that model have the same 4 x 114.3 PCD as the first Gen Celicas.

They are a floating arrangement slipping onto the wheel studs.

I am using them on the rear of my race car. The axle hub needs about 1mm taken off the diameter for the rotor to slip over.

I have not tried to fit them on the front. But I have the rotor and a hub at home so I can report back.

It maybe a good option if it slips onto the hub as it will give plenty of clearance behind for mounting brackets.

    Regards
