    Default Signup information

    Hey all,

I've got a mate who was trying to sign up with no success. He was trying to use the name "Rossco" with the e-mail greenlimo @ hotmail.com. I had a funny feeling that perhaps he just couldn't use his hotmail account, but I couldn't on quick investigation find anything to back that up. Aside from that, I made sure he was putting in all his correct details, his phone number also matching with his name and address in the white pages.

Thats the first part of my post, wondering why he keeps getting rejected. The second part, is why don't the rejection e-mails have details as to why someone is rejected, so they can amend their registration?

    Cheers,
    Nathan

    Firstly,
it has Nothing to do with his Hotmail account at all. I am signed in here with a hotmail account.

    as for the email's
they are computer generated, ie they guys do not sit and write an email to everyone that has been rejected.

as for why he keeps getting knocked back.
that one i cannot answer sorry, if ALL his information in entered and correct then i have no idea.

Thanks Kirsty. Rules one thing out I guess. I mean, I don't know exactly what he's put in, but he's adamant that all the information is correct. Ah well, guess he'll have to keep trying, hopefully the person that rejected him will be able to shed some light on the situation.

    Just a thought though,
Is he ACTUALLY getting rejected emails? or just not able to us the forums yet?

The first couple of times (or so he's informed me) he got the rejection e-mails. He put one in on the weekend and is waiting on a response.

Then I am guessing he is doing something wrong and needs to contact the board to get it sorted.

Has he also checked his spam folder in his hotmail account, perhaps the emails are now going there?

You'd also be surprised how many times (back when these forums started) that people would be adament they had filled in their details correctly and completely - only to find that on a closer inspection of their appliction they had filled in details like "69 Eat Me Street", or "1 Road Street", or phone number "1234567789", or they had omitted their street number or phone number.....
    .... you get the idea.

    Hi Nathan,
Given that the forum software (to my knowledge) does not let you automatically send an email with rejection details we have to manually enter the email address and missing information into a mail composer to inform the user. This was trialed and given the extremely poor response (less than 25%) we abandonned the idea.
The workload to process applications in such a way was huge given the amount of applications we receive, and yes, it would cut down on the number of application but it was found to be too inefficient to warrant the extra work.
The best way to deal with the situation is for him to email the board directly once he completes another application, stating his username, and one of us will contact him with the details of the missing information.
    Hope that helps.

Fair enough Mos, that's cool. He's resubmitted it apparently, so we'll see how it goes.

Karl, I queried him on that. He was adamant that his name, phone number and address would all match what was in the White Pages.

Ah well, i'll tell him to e-mail one of the board members if he gets rejected again.
