    Cool NEW diff for ta22

i'm part way through a 4A-GZE conversion into my ta22 however im doing a complete rebuild of the whole car and so far i havn't cut any corners as of yet and i dont wanna start now. SO im gonna need a new rear end. I'm hoping for some info and suggestions on peoples favorites and maybe a little cost info to, so far i've read about things like skyline, volvo, Vl and a couple others. Im upgrading the front brakes so i'd like to match that with rear disks and something that can handle an occosional run down the strip, oh and easily obtainable LSD centers would be nice too

    PLEASE HELP

    cheers from the warped one

ive got the volvo in the rear of mine, so far ive broken 1 centre (but it had been thrashed hard!)

plus you get the rear discs,....

this will easily handle the power of a 4a,

oh, but lsd centres are like hens teeth!....but CIG lockers are about $50

F series and get it shortened. Even at normal length theyre not too bad for offset. Mates one in his sprinter fits silvia rims nicely with a sweet offset. You can also buy aftermarket lsd's and they have bigger drums than t series. Mounts need to be modified. Theyre under $200 from wrecker and come in hi-ace vans i think.

Don't just focus on Toyota diffs, theres not really a good Toyota LSD/disc brake option for the TA22....
Research one of the R31 skylines with LSD and disc brakes...I think its the silhouette?

I am pretty sure Commodore, Falcon and R31 Skyline diffs are all Borg Warners. The ones to get are the 4 pinion centres. They have LSD and a wide range of ratios available.
I have a VS V8 diff that I am going to get shortened to suit my TA22.
The question is, are you going to change to five stud?

    r31 is 4 stud
    ratios are here
    http://wiki.r31skylineclub.com/index...ntial_-_Ratios

stay away from pintara diffs there only 26 spline and not that tough.skylines are 28
wreckers want about $400 complete inc disk ,calipers ect for a r31 diff with lsd
going rate for shortening is about $800 to cut down housing, axles and new bearings and seals. that doesnt include swaping over mounts.(although i never asked for this.)
im about to install a r31 3:89 lsd. 28 spline. just deciding 4 or 5 stud.
    cheers

EDIT diff code is borgwarner 78

The problem with the R31 (and indeed all Borg-Warner) diffs is the LSD centres are piss-poor and wear out quickly. I know several people with these things who have got them rebuilt and they work great for a few months then go back to being shithouse again.

    F-series + TrueTrac FTW.

Question Re: NEW diff for ta22

    I've got a TA22 with T-series 6.7in diff (with T50 gearbox). I've found a TRD 2-way LSD for a AE86 Zenki Sprinter.

My understanding is that these small axle Sprinter diffs are exchangeable with diff centres in any T-series diff housing such as in TA22's. Anyone confirm this?

I'd like to know ASAP, as I'm seriously looking to buy this, but don't want to if it won't work.

I have a TRD LSD part number for the TA22 of 413001-TA003, but the one for sale is 413001-TA005. Perhaps the difference in part numbers reflects 1-way vs. 2-way LSD? Some references list a 413001-TE003 for AE85 Corollas, so I hope that the TA003 part listing I have isn't supposed to be TE003 and therefore from an AE85.

Anyone actually put an AE86 centre in a TA22?

Some AE86 diffs are S series aren't they. If you have a T series then the centers should be interchangable. However i'm pretty sure the axels are different.

Can you even get an LSD centre for the Volvo diff?
