100 Post in Tech - So to sell you have to either reply to as many post as you can with stupid questions, or to be a seller you also have to be a tech head. So basically if I was not very car savy (not all of us are you know) then I am a dodgy person because I can't get 100 posts?
I agree with this, not everyone will be able to get up 100 posts in the tech section, as driftspec said, if people werent car savy they would have a harder time to get the 100 posts and the 40 repuation without it been taken as spam or useless questions. I am one of these people, I dont know as much as many people on here and therfore it will be harder for me to get more post and repuation.

Just because you can't post doesn't mean that you can't PM the seller.

You need 40 reputation and 100 posts in the tech section. So spamming the tech section won't work, it'll most likely give you negative reputation.
It is a good idea to have the reputation part of it, but i think the Parts wanted section should be open to more people. I know you say that you can always pm the seller but what if the part your after is harder to find and the people that are aloud to post in the other classifieds section dont have this part for sale or even at all?

Example: I'm looking for a Beams 3s-ge (not very common, as you may know), but I cant post in the parts wanted section, and this isnt avaliable in the Engine section or even at all by any of the users that can post in the locked sections. So if someone that also couldnt post in those sections either had the part/item that i was after for sale then I would be able to able to get it from them without having to wait for some to have it for sale.

PS. put aside the fact that i would be able to find a Beams from a 1/2 cut dealer, its only an example.

It realy limits what people can do when there after parts for their cars but are unable to find the particular part that they need, because the Parts wanted section is locked. Its fair enough for the other sections, I do see your point about the dodgy people that just come on to rip people off.

    Well, thats about all

    cheers

Well I have to agree with what has been done with this forum. Even though I have bought more than one part from these forums and everybody has been honest and good, I wouldn't like to get ripped off. More to the point I can understand the point about supporting the club, the money only goes to a good place. I live in victoria and when I get my GT4 regisetered and on the road I will try and get some of the other Celica owners together for a cruise possible BBQ type day just to catch up and see each others rides. I don't think that just because the car club is centralized in NSW means it's heart ins't spread all over this big old country and beyond.

I also never noticed the parts wanted section was shut to non members, as everybody has been so helpful in all other areas of the forum that I havn't had to post there for a long while.

This is a good club, full of helpful and friendly people.

good to hear there are still other places you can sell your parts

arguably, you could say that people here have lost out on prospective parts.. but if you couldn't be bothered to contribute to the forum... should they give their hard earned to you?

Its been said before, this is a TECHNICAL forum. That is its first & primary use, the sharing of knowledge about Toyotas.
The classifieds are offered as an extra service above & beyond this.
After the way the classifieds degenerated on the previous forum, be thankful its still there because we were tossing up the option of ditching it all together.

If you're not prepared to offer any kind of input but want a free classifieds, then I don't think many people on here would lose any sleep if you went elsewhere.

    End rant....

    LAME

Do your job and moderate, instead of ruining the forums.

Dont get me wrong..... i hate dodgy sellers as much as the next person but this is no way to deal with it

Its like police giving ppl a curfew to avoid violence......how about do your job .

    a) dont say your doing this in your spare time, as many other moderators on many other forums do also, if u dont have the time......dont be a moderator. A moderator is suppose to be there for the people, not just so you can have fun being a moderator.

    b) dont mention other forums already do this, because that doesnt change the fact that its a lazy and frustrating method to resolve an issue

    c) stop calling it a technical forum, just to aid your arguement.....its really desperate and old.

Dude, how can you tell a dodgy seller until after he's ripped someone off?
Think before you say something stupid like that.

The moderators are all volunteers that give up their spare time. It's not a job, they don't get paid for it.

Isn't it funny that all the people who complain are not members of the club that are actually providing this service for free?
If we weren't nice and didn't provide these forums for the general Toyota-loving community, do you think we'd have to put up with this shit?

Hehe where'd I buy my car from again.

Manipulate, stop ya whinging, the old forums in the end had over 11,000 members on the forums, sure not everyone was active, but how do expect a group of maybe 5-10 ppl to moderate the whole thing, rep means that slef moderation stops things getting out of hand and also a lot less moderation is needed in offtopic and it also stops useless whoring in the tech section.

Regardless how many other forums out there are there to sell the things on, and noticed that many now won't let you sell to you've made a certain number of posts on them etc etc.

The amount of ppl signed up in the old forums literally to just sell shit was a joke, click on read all posts by user for a seller, 90% of posts advertising shit. Genuine sellers or not the forums were being abused as a classifieds service and almost a source of income for some ppl.
    If in doubt power out

I did read your post properly, Before and After you edited this post.
You have absolutele no idea of the Time and effort needed by these people to keep the forums and club up and running.
I may not be a moderator or board member but I deffently know first hand the time restraints needed.

YOU have to stop and think about these people and be thanking them for GIVING you this place to bitch instead of abusing them as that will get you nowhere fast!
