Would it be possible to drill a hole through the lock nut then use a bar through it and turn.
Had exactly the same thing as you, the first idea of bashing a socket on worked a treat. Email me at [email protected] with pics of your bonnet, rear bumper and dash(particularly the peice that goes between the instruments and steering column)... if i think of other parts i may want, ill let you know.

Uh, if its Speedy locknuts, then just go out and buy another pack. Grind a couple of the teeth off, and itll fit. I did that when my key went missing at Mallala.
Its a bit scary how unsafe the locknuts are, as this new "universal" key i have created has fit into every single set of locknuts my mates own.
hey chriss, if u manage to get them off ill take the rims too![]()
and if u cant manage to get them off, wen i come to pick stuff up ill bring along a grnder or watever and give ya a handill bring the beers ahahah

haha, yeah sound like a plan![]()
i was going to see if the tyres were still any good, thinking of useing them on my rona for a bit, still have pretty good tread on em![]()
Rims need a good fuckin clean though and most likly a rechome cause of the little surface rust.
Was going to rip few things off it so thought might as well take the wheels off while im at it, do it Mt druitt style....jack it up with bricks![]()
got a grinder just cant find the fuckin extention cord
cheers

go down to supercheap auto or sumfin and get a socket to just fit it and hammer it on like the other guys say! - might cost you $1 or so - worked for me! better than stuffing a good socket!
the socket method is good and works well...but if you really get stuck try freezing the nut using regular BBQ gas and then shattering it with a hammer and or screw driver, then the nut will come off quite easily!
we did this on my mates supra when he didnt want to risk hurting one of his wheels with something like a grinder.
p.s. I wouldnt use a grinder at all...and wear welding gloves if you decide to freeze the nut

Would this be a risk to shattering the stud or wheel though?
What I've done in the past (my wheel nuts are recessed inside the wheel), is grab an old school alloy wheel nut (shank type), notch the shank a little with a grinder to match the locknut then hammer it in. Worked like a charm
It also fitted the other three after that as well.
with a hose from the gas bottle you can direct the gas quite well, and if you dont hit the wheel you wont smash it...its not really hard to be accurate with a hammer and a screwdriver...unless youre retarded lolOriginally Posted by Squid
you might break the stud tho...but wheel studs are around $4 from memory...so not really huge financial loss

The way I've done it previously is by getting a bar of soap, pressing it into the nut head to get the shape, and then taking it to a mate's with the necessary equipment to shape up a new tool out of steel rod. That's if you want to keep them and still use them!
well ive tried the socket one, couldnt even get the socket to get over it enough to get any grip on it, im gona have to buy a larger socket just to do this, but problem is i will hvae to make sure its bigger but too much bigger because of the rounded outside of the locknut.
I tried gettin one of the other normal nuts and hitting that inside the locknut but the normal nut is too big to do that.
thanks for the sujestion of the bbq gas mr 1jz but i dont have any and dont realy feal like buying a bottle just for this, good idea though
i've also tried grabbing the locknut with a pair of pilers and hitting the pilers with a hammer while keeping a tight grip on the nut, but all that did was make my hand sore.
I even sprayed wd40 in the nut to hopfuly make some difference, did fuck all
this is all i can think of without having to go out and buy a extension lead for my grinder, a bottle of bbq gas, paying someone to make a mould of the nut to make a socket that would fit it, or trying to find a locknut that is similar and grind it to the same rough shape.
is there any way of undoing the stud from behind?
cheers

well i found a way i can get the lock nuts off, i hope it works.
i ripped off one of the earth screws (14mm) and the end fits in nicely, then i found a nut to go on the end of that (strut tops) and fits nicely in the lock nut, so basicly i just have to find a way of gettin the nut to stay on the screw when i undo the lock nut.
gona ahve to goto hardware shop tomorrow, unless someone can sugest some other way to do this without needing a welder?
cheers
chris
