Depends on what your piping is like as to whether you'll have clearance issues after you've remove the TVIS plate. It's about 12mm thick, so it's not incidental.

If you plan on completely removing the TVIS plate, you will need to run another spacer in it's place. The "welding" you mentioned takes place between the 3rd and 4th valleys in the intake manifold. There is just not enough surface area to create a decent seal and you'll get vacuum leaks.

Have a look at the TVIS plate and you'll notice each side has a different face. You'll need to replicate these sealing faces when making another spacer. I have heard of guys simply sticking the 2 gaskets together and having no problems but it's honestly not much hassle modifying the standard TVIS plate to work. As Ghetto said, just remove the shaft/butterflies and weld/epoxy the holes up.

When I did my AE82 4AGTE Conversion, I completely took the T-Vis plate out and the manifold bolted straight back up to the head. No problem!! I also gave the inlet runner a bit of porting before I bolted it up aswell!! Works a treat!!

How much boost were you running in this setup?

I am running 7psi for standard everyday driving. I havent turned the boost up yet though.
But I thought that there was no need for me to have the T-Vis anymore as there would be nothing controling it anymore.
Aparently if I had welded the holes where the butterfly rod went through the T-Vis Manifold then I would have technically longer inlet rinners, which APPARENTLY would have given me a bit more HP. But ah well! Can anyone confirm this at all??

^^^ What's the bet that if you turned up some serious boost you'll start developing leaks? Like i said, there are guys i know that have done this without a problem but the possibility for leaking is too great for my liking. Do it once, do it properly

It'll be between the 3rd and 4th valleys in the intake manifold. Just not enough sealing surface on the intake to head without the spacer. I researched this when i was building my motor and it seemed to pop up in passing but without much in depth detail. After digging a bit deeper, 2 separate sources confirmed it WILL leak without the spacer when chasing higher boost.

The 1st guy runs a turbo 20v with 300+rwkw (his previous engine was a turbo bigport), the other has a 180+rwkw bigport.
