yes they have washers, nearly all headbolts use washers.
Well after leaving my old bigport head to sit upside down on my garage floor since I removed it, I just flipped it over to move it and what the hell do I see on my floor, but a hole lot of valve buckets,as expected, and a heap of washers???, I spent a few minuites sussing out if they came from under the bucket, but no, couldn't see anywhere else untill I looked into the valley where the head studs go to find identical washers!
Is this the case, do the head bolts use washers? or did the washers just fall into those spots and my head gasket keeps blowing because my motor is fucked?
I was just about to go out and re-build a whole new motor because I just couldn't get my headgaskets to seal!so if this is the case it will save me a shitload of money!
Cheers.

definetly should have the washers under the head of the bolt.
when you torque the bolts up, you should also put some oil onto these washers so you get the correct torque. the head of the bolt needs to run smooth over these washers and not bind up.
