This is more of "what works?" sort of question.
I am trying to mate an A650e (donor:IS300) to my OBD1 non VVTI 2JZ-GE. I bought the transmission with J2 bellhousing but no flexplate, torque converter, or starter. I know the J1 housing on my a340e is different from the J2 housing so I thought I could use the J1 housing plus flexplate, converter, and starter. My measurements of the input shafts between the two transmissions appeared to same (but maybe I've made a mistake? I'll look again). Once I put it all together, it locks up.
Question: has anyone tried this combo before? I'm just trying to learn what are the factors that I've missed. I figure I need the IS300 parts and have started my search but if there is some tribal knowledge out there about these bellhousings/gearboxes/etc, kindly enlighten me. Thank you! Sam
