18RG in TA23

Hi Guys,

20 years ago I had an RA23 with an 18RGR. Recently I bought a TA23 in unmodified condition.

It currently has the 2TC. I'd like to get another 18rg.

In the RA23 it was pretty much a bolt in job. Just had to use sump and oil pump from the 18rc.

My question is will an 18rg bolt straight into a TA23 like it does in the RA?

I realise the engine cross member is different. If I can source an RA23 one will it bolt in and match up to the TA23 gearbox?

Any other considerations with this conversion?

You will need a w50 from and ra23/ra28/rt104 and an ra23/ra28 crossmember, or you could keep the front sump crossmember and use a sump from an rt104 as they are front sump. sounds like a decent proposition, a 3sge beams would cost about the same rebuilding an 18rg so unless you already have a good condition 18rg i'd steer towards a fitting a beams

Will the T50 gearbox crossmember fit the W50 or do I need to get an RA23 as well?

Hi Greg,

I am pretty sure the T50 gearbox crossmember is vastly different to the W50 gearbox Crossmember.
If you want, i have both and engine and gearbox crossmember from an RA23 that you can use - and would be happy to buy your TA23 items.
