Good luck welding flat steel to a cast alloy bellhousing.

yeah, sorry wasnt thinking, welding alloy to cast alloy can be tigged but will leave easy tear line

merc-blue : yes it can be welded. alloy to alloy only though.
as long as the penetration is good and the welder doing the work has a MIG or better still TIG to do this, the tear line won't be an issue due to the bellhousing being supported by the 6 or so other bolts around it.
i bought a A series to W box bellhousing some time back and this is exactly what had been done (looked like MIG from what I could see) but had been surfaced and cleaned up very nicely.
so yes very doable, but, not really worth it (at all)

I also need a suitable bellhousing for a 3tgte/w58 but if the g series bellhousing puts the starter on the passenger side then thats possibly unusable depending how much room i would end up with for an exhaust.

I have a 3T-GTE in the car atm but i don't know what box it is, but simply what i'll need is either a w55 box on there so i can use the bellhousing, or try my best with the 1g one.

Are there any other options available (btw dellow is not an option) and can a standard 3T clutch be used with the 3T flywheel and W58 box?

I don't think starter on passenger side is a major, thats where the factory 3T-GTE one sits anyway.

I've also got a 3" dump pipe atm but i havent gotten the rest of the exhaust done yet as i didnt have enough money at the time and i also dont have the w58 under the car. This will all be getting done in a few weeks.

I'm pretty sure that the box on the 3t looks different to the box on the 2t in my garage plus the shifter is in a different position. Whats the chance that its got a w55 on it already in which case i can use the bellhousing on it cant i?

[Edit] i was just thinking does the g series bellhousing place the box back furthur or its pretty much identical to that of the T-W series housings?
