My van got written off last week, insurance has payed out so I'm upgrading.

Looking for a new shape hiace (2005-current) and I was chasing the 3.0L turbo diesel 1KD engine due to the claimed 170hp and plenty of rave about them. I took one for a drive today and It was very average at best. The van I drove was an 07 model and I was wondering if they came with a different configuration or upgrade in later models because it was certainly not making 170hp. Best I could find was on the Toyota website saying they came out with another 20kw from 2010 onwards!

I currently have a petrol 2.7 version from Hertz and it would have smoked it terms of torque and top end.

Can anyone shed any light on this?
