My 20V did this, popped the cover off the ecu and found the capacitors had started leaking and corroded the board. Might pay to check your not suffering the same fate.
Hi guys,
I am having issues getting my AE101 FX-GT running. It has a 20V 4AGE A/T.
I started to notice the car misfiring under normal conditions. One day, while driving the car, the engine would misfire to the point of shutting off. Now, when I start the car after leaving it off for a few hours, the engine starts however after around 30 seconds the car would misfire again then cut off. Now, the engine would turn over but not start. The only time the engine would start is when I leave the car off for a few hours. Diagnosing the car the O/D light would strobe consistently for half a second, however will not show any pattern to provide us a code.
I have tested it with a different ignition and ignition coil, but with no luck. The spark plugs have been replaced, and each is sparking fine as well. Fuel pressure seems fine, fuses as well, couldn't find any vacuum leaks, and i have cleaned the AFM.
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated

Took out the ECU, had a look and yep.. Leaking capacitor(s). Did some quick googling and yea this isn't new for a lot of people. Thanks heaps for the reccomendation
While you can grab another secondhand ecu (which could fail the same way) or repair the existing ecu (and later find the caps damaged the pcb), switching to an aftermarket unit gives you a clean slate and will handle future modifications.
