I'm going through castle hill toyota.. they're generally not rip-off merchants, and are great with jap import parts. they reckon they can have one in by COB tomorrow.

Ah, that does sound good then. I was thinking of the weeks it takes to get stuff over from Japan. In all actuality the Lexus warehouse probably has one and that CH Toyota is just getting it from them.

That is what SHOULD have happened when i was in Melb, but instead i had to drive the 30km to the Lexus dealer so i could get the part. And even then they were crap when i told them it was for a Supra.

regardless, while I have all the crap off I don';t want to put on 2nd hand parts.
I'd even put on a chromolloy crank pulley if I could bear to have her off the road for longer.

now let's pretend for a moment that the stock clutch really isn't up to the task of allowing the crank pulley bolt toi be tightened to anything resembling 300nm, to the point that even I don't think it's a good thing...
My options are to wait around for someone with a compressor and rattle gun to become available, wait around for the appropriate SST (or WST equivilent) to become available, or hit it with some shock-proof locktite.
Obviously I'm leaning toward the locktite, because I have it here. Exactly how dodgy is this?

    AHAhahahaha
    It lives.
final solution for the crank pulley bolt was put car in 2nd, tighten crank pulley bolt by breaker bar as much as possible, and while holding it tight bash the shit outta it with a persuader (and used loctite)
Will check it daily for signs of looseness.

Now all I have to do is completely flush all that crappy green coolant outta my engine and put in some good toyota red. is there a special way to do this?

Previously i have done the slightly dodgy method of dumping the green crud, and pulling out the thermostat. THen sticking a hose in the top pipe and flushing until no more green stuff comes out, and finally just slightly overmixing the Toyota Red so that you make up for the water already in the engine.

Not so sure if i woudl do it this way still though. THe other way is to empty green, fill with water, run car, empty water out and repeat until the water coming out isnt green anymore. Then fill with red.

that's my current plan... I've just put in a load of water. only pest is continually getting the engine up to operating temp!
and the froth that comes out with the rad cap off is not good (not oil froth.. just froth)

Generally I just dump as much of the green crap as I can out of all the drain points in the engine. Then I fill her up with distilled water, drive her round for a bit, drain all of that out, then give her a dose of the good stuff.

well, I've just dumped my first load of water and there was only the barest tinge of green in it.. so 1 more run with water and I'll put the good stuff in (alas, no redline water wetter in the garage)
