if you want a close ratio 5spd then why dont you rebuild the standard T50 with a TRD close ratio gearset?
Can anyone help with what the best close ratio 5spd gear box to use behind a 2TG motor?

I have a T50 gearbox so that would be probably a good way to go. I typed TRD into google but it was not clear where you would buy a TRD close ration gear set from?
I bought the TRD Spec 1 kit; 2.63 first 1.89 second standard third fourth fifth, from New Zealand for about $1200NZD about 3years ago. Have since found this kit, which is suitable for slightly modified engine with 4.3:1 diff and is not made anymore. There are other brands available with similar ratios. TRD Spec 2 kit is closer ratios throughout and is more suitable for highly modified engines. Cost of type 2 kit averages $2400 USD. One place is Tokyoseven for Spec 2 kit. If I find other places later will list them for you.

Cheers thanks! I guess Albins may even do a close ration gearset for a T50 as well
Albins is another option. A former employer put a Albins set in his 4age powered clubman and found third made a whining noise when cruising on flat road, have heard from one other person has same noise in his sprinter. Don't know if your car will be road/ track or just track use, track use noise shouldn't be a problem.
possibly straight cut gears causing the noise?
Application is in a classic rally car so noise is not a problem at all! I will investigate the Albins option
I bought a TRD set from RHD Japan. Excellent to deal with and the gearbox is brilliant
