    Default w58 in MZ10

I had a quick search and couldn't find anything.

Just wondering if anyone knows for a fact whats involved with replacing the stock Auto and replacing it with a w58 in my MZ10.

From what I've been told I need the box, pedal box, cylinders, MA61 manual tailshaft and a clutch. I'm wondering if there is any other stuff I need to buy and is it pretty much a straight bolt in swap, ie. the w58 will bolt straight up to my MTEU bell housing or do I need the supra one aswell? Cross member and stuff?

    Cheers,
    Jayson

judging by the add in the parts wanted section for a m>w bellhousing, i'd say that the W58 will not bolt straight up to you MTEU bellhousing.

Also, you might have to get a manual centre console (at least i had to do this for my TA22)

I will have to modify my consol, that isn't a problem. Mainly just wanting to know everything I will need to get it to bolt up, as for clutch MA60 clutch yeah? What about flywheels and shit?

yep as said, MA61 manual stuff will work (I have done it). (Clutch pedal can come from a xA6x).

You will need the Manual Front half of the tail shaft as it is ~80mm longer in the manual (a manual RA60/RA65 tailshaft [not SA63] should also work )

Note that all the required parts can be ripped out of an RA65 or SA63 Celica, apart from the flywheel and bellhousing. This will make it much easier to source the bits as wrecked MA61's don't exactly grow on trees, especially manual ones.

If you're asking if your existing auto bellhousing will work on a W58 then the answer is no; you'll need a M -> W5x bellhousing. The only (relatively) common sources of those is the MA61 and non-turbo MA70 Supra.

You will also need to cut the floor to suit the box.
The hole in the tranny tunnel on the auto's is slightly further forward compared to the manuals.

RA6X has the wrong clutch slave and clutch hard line; SA63 is correct in that regard.

SA63 tail shaft, gearbox shifter position (most far back) and gearbox crossmember will not work (they are different to the MA61 stuff).

So ANY RA6x/SA63 celica clutch pedal and clutch master and brake pedal will fit. SA63 clutch slave and hard line will fit. RA6x front tailshaft section can be used? (not sure on that myself!)!!!

And as Norbie said, M->W55,W57,W58 bellhousing and flywheel (MA61, MA70 non turbo)

And as Cruz said you will have to cut the floor for the shifter (you should get a MA61 shifter position).

sorry to dig up an old thread but...

when installing the clutch pedal do you cut a square out of the sound deading to fit the clutch box into or leave it as is... since its got the shape of the clutch master in the sound deading on the firewall on the inside anyway?

thats what i did, i assume that if the holes are already in the fire wall and there a provison in the kick panel for a clutch pedal... then the hole thats already there must be like that for when they factory fit a manual

    just wasnt sure.

    thanks.

I removed that section of deadening, as its already precut.

You want the clutch pedal to be hard up against the firewall.
