Yeh there is definately something majorly wrong with this engine/carby!
I was driving it yesterday and saw the fuel guage was on empty after only 180kms!
Is it normal for 18RC's to be extremely gutless especially when on a 3sp auto?
You have to drive everywhere on full throttle, and it is lucky to make it past 40km/h going up a hill! and putting it back to 1st or 2nd it just revs more but doesn't make much more power?
Anna is trying to get a down draught carby and matching manifold from a friend at the moment, hopefully that will sort it out and give it a little but more balls!
Thanks for all the help so far!
    Cheers.

Sounds like perhaps a sticking needle and seat or maybe the float has a hole in it. Alos check that the fuel discharge tube isnt loose and has rotated, i have seen this a couple times and even some very experience mechanics wont think to look for it as most mechanics these days cant think outside of the square!

As Trav Said, A hole in the carby float could be stuffing it.
If it is flooding and you are trying to start it then hold the throttle wide open, do not pump it. The initial fuel shot only shoots when the throttle is pushed and it will only continue to draw fuel when there is vacum(engine is running).
I rebuilt my own 2t carby and i can walk outside in the morning when the temp is -3 and start my car whilst standing outside the window(no throttle action, manual choke not on). This is how it should been if it has been tuned properly.
I would suggest checking your idle fuel circuit in the carb, but the whole thing probly needs a rebuilt. Take it to a carby specialist or someone that knows what they are doing with older engines. Mechanics can be very very dodgy.

It would be a good idea to tidy up a few other areas if you haven't already, like air cleaner element, plugs, leads, rotor, distributor cap etc.
It could be an ignition problem, fuel and air getting in but not igniting properly.
It could even be an air leak causing an incorrect mixture.
    It could be timing also.

I'd agree with a sticky needle and seat. Can be a PITA to diagnose but fairly easy to replace. Carbies aren't complicated but so damn FIDDLY!

well the problem is solved! Anna took it back to the mechanic and they adjusted the accelerator, looked at timing etc, and adjusted the choke again.
Starts fine now, runs fine, better fuel economy and power!
Thanks for all the suggestions and help!
    Cheers.
