Morning All,
We've had an '94 AE102 Sprinter that's been in our family for 10 years, my mother in-law has it now but unfortunately after getting a flat battery replaced over the weekend the car won't start.
Over the years we've had the odd issue whenever a battery is replaced, or some funky combination of unlocking/locking the car a factory immobiliser seems seems to kick in a stop the car from starting, we eventually figured out that locking and unlocking the drivers door from the outside seem to disable this. This time however that trick doesn't seem to work.
When we bought the car, it didn't come with an alarm remote (nor have we ever needed one) and it doesn't haven transponder keys. If you lock the car from the drivers side door a small factory looking LED on the dash that has "Security" written next to it starts to flash, which stops flashing once the car is unlocked with a key. I'm headed over there tonight to have a play with the car to see if I can convince it to start, short of disconnecting the battery for a while and locking/unlocking the door and turning IGN on/off has anyone else had an issue like this on a totally unmodified AE102?
Found an link that indicate this is a potential issue for Camry's of a similar era, but we've never had a remote for this car http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forum...-immobilisier/
Any ideas would be appreciated! Short of that, can anyone recommend a good auto-electrician in the Inner West, or would this be a back to Toyota thing?
Thanks!
Sorted! Very well hidden kill switch...
