From what I can see from that pic... isn't the yellow one meant to go into the tap? Where's your tap? It's supposed to be just next to the clutch cylinder, a little bit higher up.
im just re fitting the GZE into the ae86. im hooking up the coolant pipes at the moment. something has got me a little confused. there is no pipes that go into the heater tap to stop the flow of coolant to the heater core.
unless im not doing something right, can i get some help as to where the hoses should go.
here is the setup at the moment. i have coloured the pipes to make it easier to see where they go.......
BLUE = from water pump to thermostat
RED = bypass to thermostat housing
GREEN = heater core to thermostat housing
YELLOW = heater core to nothing yet!!!
PINK= rear of head to nothing yet
BROWN = going to be removed. not needed.

yeah the tap is next to the cluth master. i have worked out that the yellow one goes into the tap, but is still need one to come from the head and go some where.
does the one go from the head into the tap too? i figured it wouldnt because when the tap is closed it would prevent coolant from flowing out of the head......or am i wrong??

The back of the head, and the green one go to the heater tap (i.e. pre and post thermostat).

so the yellow goes to idle up.....where is that located. its a pretty big pipe. ie heater hose size.
also the green one is too long to twist back up to the heater tap. if it does then there is a pipe on the thermostat housing that has nothing going to it......what goes on there?
this is why im confused.......to many/few hoses cmpared to outlets!

I hope this helps.
Also in your photo diagram you have two marked brown. Im pretty sure on a stock bigport/smallport they go to the throttle body for idle control. On your TB do you have any pipes comming from underneath or are they plated off? If they are plated you need to plug up the holes somehow.
Im trying to find some pictures of a stock setup which helped me when i was doing this in my ke30.
Huh? Isn't the yellow one coming out of one of the heater core outlets? (Which would then put it in the same circuit as the green, the tap and the back of the head).Originally Posted by takai

Ah yes, Mos is right, it does come from the heater tap/heater system, basically you want a loop going from back of head > tap > core > green. How it does that is up to you. The idle up ones are a bit smaller.
