Default GEN 1 3sge Cam options

    Hey Guys

Im helping a friend with a build and we are trying to find some Gen 1 cams.

Just wondering what people have used, from the research I have done so far their does not seem to be to many options out there and Gen2/3 3sge cams wont work.

Also anyone played with the maximum duration that the standard ecu will handle before being to much?

    Thanks

hardweld a set? Web camshafts offers hardweld on the cams they offer. If you have a spare pair of gen 1 cams you can likely have them made into whatever you want.

Gen1 3SGE uses the same bucket/shim arrangement as the 4AGE... so making a few assumptions based on 4AGE, I'd say you can run a "264 type" cam on the stock ECU while keeping some idle. Again, basing this on a 4AGE... don't forget to add an appropriate amount of compression. On a 4AGE 264 cams work very nicely with static compression ratio of around 11 to 1

Very few aftermarket cams available for the Gen 1. Toda have a few options - http://www.todaracingusa.com/catalog...idCategory=130. Kelford can regrind your original cams to your specs - http://www.kelford.co.nz/regrinds. That's all I can think of.

Wade did but their site is down. I was trying to look for some yesterday. Having said that, the 3sge didnt run well at all without an ecu. One of the guys tried it a few years ago and the results were far from impressive. Fueling and timing was way off and you really need to tune it properly to make the use of it. IMO doing the ECU first would be a good place to start.
