Hi All,
I'm in the process of tearing down my E58 with a friend (well tbh he's the one doing the tearing down whilst I place the bits into labelled baggies).
We will be replacing the synchro's as they have suffered from 60,000k's of Redline Lightweight Shockproof and will be installing a KAAZ 1.5way clutch-plate LSD (still deciding on what oil to run given the KAAZ and the gearbox are a little at odds.. thinking a good quality GL-4 and add some friction modifier to quieten the diff).
We have thus far used the E51 manual, which is part of the 1989 MR-2 big green book available on the web.
This lists various clearances, min diameter for the shafts, thrust clearances etc... does anyone know what these need to be for the E58? Even though the E51 is wide-geared do the numbers here apply to the other E-series boxes?
I know someone here mentioned they had the E58 japanese manual and it'd be great to be able to get hold of that so we can compare it to the E51 manual, which has been spot on thus far for the disassembly process.
Thanks in advance

Well, cbf with clearance specs anymore, just going to rip it apart, replace synchro's then smash it all back together. Most of the clearances have been within those spec'd for the E51 so that's close enough for me. The box appears to be in great shape so we'll just put it all back together with the existing bearings, shims and snap rings.
