I remember being told that the analog EFI was more mod-friendly. Again, ask the OCC.
forget last msg i went back and reread it..
So what do we think
22RE with the mods we have been talking about in a straight drag with an AE82 with a nearly stock 4age 88KW.
Who's gunna win and by how much.?????

I put my money on my corona with stock 22re taking a stock AE82 in a straightline or being lineball. In a lighter car its a no brainer especially after mods. U may have the same power but you've got an extra 50Nm of torque stockOriginally Posted by dale30

i'd be thinking RT142 'rona vs ae82 twin cam, the 4ag has it
as for afm interchangebility, depends on the efi type, as far as i can tell ya, a tccs 5mge afm would swap with a 22re tccs one, unless ur upping injector size or rail pressure, u'd want to tweak the door a bit to sort out the AFR.
it won't matter which efi system you get, if you plan on port heads, cam and a few more bits, it will put the engine out of the paramiters of the ecu. You will just never get it to run 100%. Your best bet would be aftermarket ecu
Dont know if this will change your thinking but we only run wide open throttle on track.Originally Posted by bansheebuzz
With the 22 i would think between about 3500 and 6000 just on and of the gas a bit through corners.
It will actually be in an XT130 if that makes a difference...Originally Posted by ViPeR_NiPPleX
Viper, unless you know for sure, it isn't as simple as that. Even between same type of EFI, different AFMs have differnt outputs, and as I said already some are completely incompatible - reverse resitance curve.
I do know that some yanks run fairly modded 2xRs on stock analog EFI - large AFM, ajusted spring, and larger injectors to suit. Sure the curves won't be ideal and it won't be fuel efficient - but this is a budget build.
i understand different afm's have reversed resistance curves, i'm fairly sure the 5m-e and the 5m-ge ones are opposites, which is why i'd be highly suspicious that when the switch to TCCS occured, they changed the AFM's too... however i'm not going to say that is correct
if its for track stuff, you could run the 21R carby manifold and using an adaptor, pick a carby that will suit ur flow requirementsalthough personally i'd rather stick with efi
