    Default 1ggze supercharger switching

I've been doing a few runs lately just for fun.

On the latest one I was enjoying what I thought was a marvellously smooth ride. But when I went to overtake, the poor old girl had nothing.

    No supercharger.

I wasn't too worried as the charger can be left off with no side effects to the engine.

The problem disappeared when I turned off the ignition and turned it back on. The problem hasn't reappeared.

does anyone know the details of what switches on the supercharger and what components might need checking for this kind of failure?

I understand the factory setup is that the charger comes on when when there is a threshold pressure reached in the intake Side (measured where? Plenum?)
I've ready checked for obvious physical signs of electrical connection problems and am wondering if it might be an ecu issue.

Unrelated, but the gods of boost have it in for me. the family planning outback split an intercooler pipe and later another boost hose. My god a 2L diesel without turbo is lethargic.

As far as I know its just based on revs and throttle position.
If you've got a dicky TPS then there is a possibility the charger won't switch on.

ECU won't let you have boost if the engine is running hotter than its preferred range.
And if you 'overboost', the ABV will switch on sending all of your incoming air straight to the inlet manifold, not via the supercharger, which will give you that 'sinking' / no boost feeling that you have described here.
Do you have a boost guage fitted?

    No I don't.

I wouldn't have thought of that as an issue as the engine is completely standard. The radiator is a recored mazda b2600 unit with thermo, so I'm fairly happy that it is adequate.

But if the ECU would stop boost because of overtemp, then that's something to look at. Temp gauge is again, factory (so no actual temp) and was reading normal temps (I have had boost while the gauge was much higher).

Thanks though. I now have even more things to look at.
