I don't have a KAAZ LSD but a TRD LSD. Either way the noises you mention dont seem normal at all. Sounds like there was a problem during installation?
Hi guys,
I've installed a brand new KAAZ 2way lsd into my TA22, as soon as i rolled the car down the driveway and onto the street I could hear all sorts of odd noises coming from the diff (I've expected this coz I've read all about it) I took the car to a cul-de-sac in the local industrial area and started to complete the run in procedure of doing figure 8's for half an hour as specified by KAAZ. But I oborted that after about 5 minutes as it started making me feel a little sick/dizzy.... And I was also feeling quiet unsure about the amount of noise coming out of the diff...... The diff was banging and clunking and chattering and sending some seriously loud noise and vibrations resonating throughout the car and the chassis.... This felt like it was serious excessive, so I stopped just incase it wasn't normal and I was causing damage to the diff/lsd....
Has anyone had these experiences?
Anyone else installed a brand new Kaaz before?
Anyone installed a Kaaz into their ta22?
Any advice or experiences greatly appreciated))

I have a Gunna 4WD lokka in my R31 skyline B/W diff.
It is the ratcheting unlock style not a clutch pack limited slipper.
There is a certain knack one needs to develop to drive it at ANYTHING other than wide open throttle... At lower speed corners the flaming thing clunks, shudders, bangs, and sounds/feels like it is going to rip the car apart literally until you learn the correct method of keeping the driveline loaded through a corner or make the decision earlier to get off the gas until completely through the corner...
It has put up with much abuse however!!
Cheers,

Just wondering where you got your kaaz diff from and what other modification is needed for it
So you have the t series diff not the d series diff as early ta22's had from what I remember?
Also what oil did you use for break in? Something also reminds me that the diff flange nut has a
crush washer which has to be done up to a certain spec for the correct tooth engagement?
An update on the progress of the diff/lsd..... just in case anyone is reading this in the future
I done a whole lot of reading and video watching on the internet and came across a lot of cases with people experiencing the same thing, i called a few mechanic friends for advice, and I also called the diff shop that set up the carrier for me with the new Kaaz lsd and new ring gear and pinion, to check with them regarding the noises my diff was making. The reassured me that is was quiet normal for the LSD to initially bang and click and shudder and chatter etc.....
Now when i say that my car was extremely loud i mean it was EXTREMELY LOUD!!! like a broken axle sounds when you destroy your diff. This wasn't helped by the fact that i have the T3 rear four link and panhard rod mounted in my car so the diff is solid mounted.
So after speaking to the diff shop and under their recommendation i proceeded to complete the break in procedure as per Kaaz instructions. The noise has now reduced dramatically. I spent the time and completed the figure 8's (had to stop every few minutes coz it was making me seriously dizzy and sick) Im sure it was also very highly entertaining for everyone at work in the local industrial area!! lol
I have now got to drop the oil and replace it after the break in procedure has been completed and I've been told that this will quieten the lsd...... but to also expect that it will still chatter a little as that's the characteristics of a Kaaz 2-way LSD..
