    Default 3T ignition woes

I have a 3t turbo thats running an old school optospark 500n with the hall effect sensor, i wanted to upgrade so i bought an accuspark igniton module and an MSD blaster 3 coil, removed the old dizzy and optospark and fit my 2t dizzy with the accuspark, timed it all up ran like a charm. Removed the bosch coil and fit MSD, now no spark from coil, healthy 12v on +ive side of coil, tried bosch coil, still no spark, put old dizzy back in with the optospark and hall effect, timed it up and runs ok until i plug back in the vacuum advance which then it just dies on me. Anyone know why?

    Cheers,
    Callum

    Hmmm...
    Plenty of questions...
The Accuspark instructions say the module cannot be used with low impedence coils such as for electronic ignition:

Before fitting your AccuSpark it should be noted what type of ignition system is fitted and that a suitable coil is correctly fitted.
Only coils of more than 1.4 Ohms of resistance are suitable. Low resistance and electronic ignition coils are NOT suitable and will invalidate any warranty.
I think this means the MSD coil will not be suitable. Given the original Bosch coil worked fine and it all came crashing down with the MSD coil install I think this is plausible.

If I were you I would put the accuspark dizzy back in with the Bosch coil and see if it still works.

As for the engine refusing to run with the old optospark unit only with the vacuum advance plugged in I wonder if there is a significant vacuum leak from the diaphragm unit on the dizzy?

I would be looking to a cheap MSD6(AL) for some extra spark grunt since you are only running single coil and adding cylinder pressure artificially with a turbo.

    Cheers,
    Jason

damn i didnt read that bit on the accuspark, i have already tried to run it with the bosch coil and still no spark

I had a feeling the diaghram may have a leak, i tried to swap the 2t one over but its got the octance selector on the end of it so it wont work.

As for the 6AL im going for the MSD BTM, tax money baby!

fixed, turns out the trigger plate is able to move on the dizzy cam and turned 90 degrees so the trigger point was on the flat plat of the cam
