Sourcing a door: S17 Crown
My walk of shame: I got myself into a small prang. I now have a door that needs replacing. I considered posting in the WTB section but I don't have the rep, and I also don't expect anyone to just go, oh I have one! So, I will either need to find a wrecker here in aus (car is not all that common in SA, dunno about the rest of Australia and its wrecking yards), or somehow, get one from The Land of the Rising Sun. Crash repairer tells me that because the intrusion bar has warped the metal, it won't just beat out, but given that they'll have to blend paint anyway, any door colour will do (what I have is pearl white).
Any pointers at all as to where I should start?
Also sorry if this is the wrong section.

Re: Sourcing a door: S17 Crown
You would do well to start by calling it a JZS171 - I had no idea what an S17 crown was and had to look at your other posts to see what you were on about
Importmonster is your friend - do a search on JZS171 and you will find all these bits. I imagine something in there will sort you out.

Re: Sourcing a door: S17 Crown
Right. I guess I said it like that because not all crowns of the 17 series used the JZ series engine, and other models (ie ones we can't import here, we can only import the 1JZ-GTE and 1UZ versions) have say, S173 or S175 for the majestas.
OK thanks for the advice, I'll check it out. I see what might be the right door already, but got to buy it in the next hour and a half, and I have no idea what happens then!
Edit: bugger that one, wagon ones are there too. Far out thats cheap. I wonder how much shipping and brokerage are?

Re: Sourcing a door: S17 Crown
Alternatively call them *ZS17* - but if yours is a JZS171 call it that, we are smart enough to work out that different engine combos result in different prefixes normally
Register with the monster, and it will give you a freight and commission calculator - which depends on whether you want things air or sea freighter. Air will be horrendous but depends how urgent you want it.
All you are looking at really is japan's version of ebay, called yahoo japan - so treat it in the same way as you would ebay here.

Re: Sourcing a door: S17 Crown
Well, just looked at the shipping calculator, don't think I can transport something of that size by anything other than sea. Thats fine, as you say, air would have sucked. Door has been a little warped for about 2 months now, another 4 can't hurt too badly.
Also, I believe the G series engine was also in use, but fair point, I probably should have just referred to what I have.
Thanks again for your help.
