Broken ring LAN and or melted piston is common on these engines
I was finally able to fire up my 3tgte, problem is, it's spitting oil through the exhaust (also rough idle due to vacuum leak). I pulled out the plugs and as soon as I took the #3 plug out, smoke started coming out of the plug hole. Any other ideas beside that I may have a bad ring?

What's the compression?
It is NOT spitting oil out the exhaust. It is condensation, look at it.
Smoke from recently stopped engine, while not common, is completely normal and not a sign of anything except a valve open & heat rising.

Ring land.
'I've scrapped better.' John stated when asked about the car by the guy with the silver tipped cowboy boots!
is it oil? or is it a mixture of consensation/fuel and carbon from the inside of the exhaust, do a compression test, and make sure you do a wet compression test too.
