All your other ideas are unfeasible.
I inherited the family car a couple of weeks ago. It is a 2003 Camry Sportivo 1MZ-FE MCVR36R. The motor has just under 380000km on it (so it isn't dead yet). I am looking at sometime in the future once I am less poor (i.e. finish my mech-eng degree) to making a project out of this car and would like to up the ante with a different engine. Does anyone know what engines would fit in my car.
Would something like a 2JZ go in or a Lexus V8? Not intending to rice, but simply to make this a car that could be a modded show-car.
Also, are RWD conversions possible at all?
Cheers

You might get a supercharged 3.5 from a TRD Aurion in there but by the time you did it you've probably spent the same as just going out and buying a TRD Aurion.
The only mildly feasible swap would be if you could buy a whole rear damaged Standard Aurion and swap the 3.5L v6 over but it's still going to be a lot of work for little gain. There's nothing wrong with the 1mz. One of the best modern engines around in my opinion. I've got a few. Both family cars run them plus a few more out at the farm, one still going strong with 470,000kms on it.
Dude don't waste time turning a Sportivo Camry with 400,000 kays on it into a show car.
Just don't even worry about it.. maybe when (if!?) the current engine dies, replace it with a reco'd/replacement/low-kay 1mz and use it as your worry free commuter.
Mod something.. nay, anything else.
Not trying to sound harsh, but would rather you not make a decision you will most likely regret.
I don't like being overly blunt but it suprises me with the engine swap options / question you asked when you look at the degree course you are doing ..

True, but they should know how to do their own research... at least even a little.
