Think it was MA61 dedicated thread, there were a few pics of an NZ car. Basic word was "road car is a waste of time, race car is questionable", have search in that thread and see what comes up.

I'm up for modding my rear end, had a look at a few and favor the MX83 sub frame, and plan to pick one up this weekend for experiments.
If someone can suggest anything better to use, let me know.
I do not expect it to be easy however I see lot's of benefits such as adapting stronger diffs, axles, maybe a one piece tail shaft and superior geometry. Comments anyone.

The xA6x IRS may be sturdy, but the design is reasonably crude by IRS standards. Camber changes during arm movement (and thus more neg when lowering) for starters.
What car is this going into? If you're going to this much effort, would something like a wishbone xA7x/xZ2x read end be better choice? Of course you can go much more modern again like R32.
The car is an MA61 and I'm proposing to adapt the '89 Cressida subframe that has top wishbone, two lower control arms and a strut rod simiar to MA70 I think.
It's as much about the heavier drive componets as well as the better susspension.
i was nearly considering this myself but ive gone with fitting HKS coilovers in place of the original dampeners. ive already chopped up the floor too much i reckon.
although if i come across a MX83 for cheap i may consider it.
i think the track difference is about 50mm (cressida bigger). 1450 vs 1400.

hello
track difference can be made up with the correct offset rims so that shouldn't be a major concern, but fitting an mx83 (or similar) under an ma61 (or anything else it wasn't designed to fit) will require a shitload of customisation of mounting points etc.
why not buy the kit off wilbo666 (or whoever else helped with its design) and fit that to reduce the amount of camber?
if its just because you want to run a larger diff then chase a G series rear end (complete) out of a GX71 and it should bolt straight up requiring only a tailshft to be modded/built to suit
you can run a 1 piece tailshaft in an MA61 with no dramas.

But not really an issue for road cars generally, how often do you need to pull the box out?
Callum
not if you buy a decent shaft. i can drop the front uni out in 2mins tops (thats in the dark to)
spicer unis make life heaps easier.

hello
Found an MZ21 with a G304 diff, a little bit more promising in fitting however still a shite load of work to fit it, hmmmm, can't decide if I'll buy it or not!
Well guys, this is what I'm talking about, I thought the best way to measure it was to bring it home (got the tailshaft and it's a serious piece of shit too).
It measures 87mm wider hub to hub (looks much more from the photo angle)
With NCOP I could have quite wide rims, I will crunch some numbers and see if maybe
10" composite wheels will bring the track down to the passable limit.
Had a bit of a look at shifting 4 of the bush mounts to the 4 MA61 locations, this looks doable but I have not checked heights as I'm trying to lower the car.
I don't want the wishbones to rise much past horizontal with a static load.
Crambo, unless you are building a dedicated track car, or a very serious home racer, I personally think you are wasting your time (of course, if you just want the challenge, go for it).
For the amount of effort and time involved, I don't believe the ends justify the means.

Cruzida, you are right again, want and need are two entirely different things,
I don't think many of us here are building cars we need.
