tosco i dont have the time to go up there, plus i would rather build the engine so as i know what has been done.

im sure it is a great package but not for me at the present time.

I can assure you that this will outdo anything you could dream of building, and just in parts alone there is more than the $1500 plus trailer hire plus fuel plus time worth of bits... then you sell your current motor for a couple of hundred to a local hilux driver to offset the costs... win win. Not worth the effort to outweigh what Mr DOHC's motor has to offer.

45mm solex's? nah dont exist, 45 webers is how its done, this set up is a full long motor, carbys to extractors, it doesnt really need 45mm webers, but it would add power, and they will be a few hundred, depends how lucky you get.
Dunno about ute hire, look it up, and check freight see which is cheaper.

tosco i should thank you for your words of encourgment too. thanks,

but MR DOHC suggest that his motor needs 45mm webbers,

i would rather travel up there my self as the furthest north i have been is newcastle and furtherst south is the ACT. so i dont get out much.

    cheers guys

what would i need to change on MR DOHC RG for it to fit into a RA23. (sump, oil pick up etc..etc.. wouldnt be hard as i already have a RG in my 23)

No worris mate, and good on ya, its well worth the trip.
Yea, everyhting deserves 45 DCOE's, but if its pushing ur budget u dont have to worry about it.
I dont know wat it would need? i dont know wat the difference to the RT104's and RA23's, but the most that needs changing is the sump, and u already got one, so u wont have any problems, as long as its stock ur RA23 should be running linkage accel as well.

If it doesnt change ur mind and u do decide to go with a swap next year, uve got a buyer for Mr DOHC engine, right here and waiting

well i havent brought the engine yet but i doubt anyone on this site is going to snap it up with the next week or two.

i have a cable setup in my 23 now it was originally linkage. i doubt it would be very hard to convert it to cable as i have done it before. yes the sump i have

Tou'd just swap your cable bits onto MR DOHC's motor.

18rg's ? .... MR DOHC is the man, we'll tell you now. What he's spent on that would cost 3 rebuilds over in budget...so its a steal.

and milky oil/water .... sure it wasnt just the head gasket?

mine is rough as all hell ... but still did factory power 2 dyno events ago .... and has been thrashed at wakefield twice with only an old dodgey clutch issue, a loose extractor bolt and i snapped the timing chain tensioner replacing its oring have been the only issues to date.

Thanks a shame, but its good that some one is using it.
Good luck with the rebuild and future conversion.
